4·2 days agoI’ve been thinking similar thoughts. I don’t want my life to devolve into managing the fallout from the torrent of slop. Perhaps it’s not too late to switch to geophysics. Those guys get to do fieldwork.

Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Orbán’s 16-year rule over Hungary ends in crushing election defeatEnglish
332·3 days agoHe’s mostly been described as centre right, but we’ll see. If he’s not beholden to Russia and not massively corrupt, then that’s a huge step. If they then undo the damage done by Orbán to the constitution and institutions of Hungary, then there will be a way forward.

And not only is Orban out, Tisza has a super majority so they can make real changes.

What ever happened to flow batteries? They were supposed to be the really cheap low density option for grid storage.
I’ve done this and the, results were fine, but I didn’t have a control group to compare.
In fact, I need to do this again right away or suffer the indugnity of buying actual chili plants

6·9 days agoIt would if Greenland were in the EU. And it’s odd that it isn’t. But Greenland isn’t “part of” Denmark. They form a union along with the Faroe Islands and chose to leave the EU.

Vegan@lemmy.ml•Concerned about resource usage of AI? Stop eating beef NOW.
1·8 days agoOf course there is. I’m just saying that the existence of cows doesn’t prove anything, since they are a different organism from us with different capabilities, like digesting things that we can’t. Using bullshit arguments doesn’t help whatever cause you think you’re helping.

Vegan@lemmy.ml•Concerned about resource usage of AI? Stop eating beef NOW.
54·10 days agoWe can’t digest the grasses that cows do with their 4 stomachs and rumination, so that argument is bull. But of course you’re right that beef can replaced. We’ll just have to hit the legumes and plants that we can actually digest.

Surprised it described itself as a war crime and didn’t try to justify that.
It is not sentient. It has no sense of self or guilt or any of that. It’s just writing back the most likely next word given the question and whatever context it has. It seems to have the leaked code in context? Or it could be bullshitting.

Yeah. I’ve spent (shock, horror) 25+ years resisting being moved “up” to management. Maybe the jig is just up and I’ll be managing a horde of idiot savant bots.
I guess I could deal with much of the characters on the screen being auto generated if I’m directing the data structures and stuff but…
