Honestly I would like to see them dust off Conclave a bit as an option. The reward structure is already there (pretty much just a cosmetic shop), albeit a bit cluttered. It’s a neat idea but it’s a graveyard, 1999 is the best way to actually farm Conclave rep by far.

All content is completely free, story bits and all, and they’ve long since moved on from “you had to be there” moments - there are a handful of things that aren’t accessible now in the current game (trials/raids which were apparently super buggy anyway, some narratives told via short-lived Aert missions, and the Founder items are remaining founder-exclusive out of respect for those who supported early on, but most people who own those items vouch for releasing them to everyone, so we’ll see). DE tends to be extremely transparent and active within the community.

Plus the game’s monetization model (it’s a live service game, they’ve still got bills to pay) is arguably the most “friendly” I’ve ever seen - the paid currency is completely tradeable between players, nearly everything can be reasonably earned in-game, and there are very few cosmetics that are truly paid-only. It feels much more like an option that’s there to support the devs rather than a nagging “feature” or any p2w nonsense.

Finally there’s this whole OpenWF thing the thread is about - they surely know about it, and while they haven’t explicitly acknowledged it, it seems like they’re letting it exist without any issues. When the game eventually stops, it’ll still be fully playable in this way.

Yeppp. I don’t think DE has ever echoed that claim, and this project’s apparently been around for a while and they let it exist without really acknowledging it, but it definitely brings to mind other live service games that are either totally unplayable or have ripped out half of their own games over the years (cough destiny 2 cough)

One new release I’m not seeing in a lot of these articles that deserves a shoutout is Rubato. Just finished my first clear and I would legitimately put this on par with indie giants like Cave Story and Undertale, especially narratively. Phenomenal little game that deserves more recognition.

That’s exactly how I found these two. The latter especially is on my daily rotations now.

ErsatzTV is great for this, but it just entered maintenance mode and I don’t think any forks are currently continuing the work. Still, it’ll probably continue to work without issues for a long time.

My PS5 is just a Warframe box for the living room when I don’t feel like using my Deck, and I plan to essentially replace it with a Steam Machine down the road (sure I could just set up my own linux box there but the form factor is a huge motivator).

I think I use the thing for other games like once every few years. Death Stranding 2 is the only one I bought that comes to mind, Yotei was a gift. This isn’t going to encourage me to buy more of their games because this console is going in the closet soon enough.

I never got far in it as a kid, I’d always get through maybe the first zone or two and give up. Decades later I still boot it up occasionally and do the exact same thing.
