I’ve been getting over this crush on myself Rubber putting pressure on no bends If I had a hammer would it throw a wrench? Last time I saw you was the last time I saw you yeah I’ve been getting over this crush-ish on myself Crushing every option to cope with myself Give me a hammer and I’ll do the rest And you split it Cause when you split it there’s nothing left We ain’t gotta fight you know Would you seeya I’ve been getting too old to be touching on myself There’s a pin in my bed so I’m sleeping in a ball Give me a hammer and I’ll fix this mess Last time I saw you’s the last time I’ll see you all I’ve been getting over this crusher I’ve been getting over this pressure This year I found this box that has like a funnel in the top and like a hole and I put a guitar pick in it and 2 came out and then I put those two in it and 4 came out so it’s like D-D-D-D-DIGITAL

You won’t help me so get away For airtight reasons You won’t help me so get Fashioned a setup And set on leaving So why the hemorrhage Just to sit on the edge? Just to check in the fridge You won’t help me so get away For unmarked reasons You can’t help me so get Stopped on the river A decade screaming For no more tricks So you can make a bet So you can make in the hedge And I kept on breathing Like life has a meaning Flustered falling faintly I just concealed it greatly Don't reveal it keep it a secret A certain someone said you should seal it I followed their word and dealt with my grievance

Like every paper I wrote I keep on stringing along Three bodies hiding arrows Three bodies caught in ivy Blow it gently And run it through Grammarly Like every question I wrote I keep on digging a hole Three bodies tip the starboard Made of cardboard With nobody watching me And running through gallery Three bodies open up the door I keep on checking the door Two bodies through a keyhole And I bruise my temple Now the options are: TV Or two bodies watching me Or running through gallery Or running through galleria I keep on getting involved

Splayed on a cannonball for miles and days So I did some thinking The wadding Was dark and wrapping perfectly round the bends You been round the bend Had a way to ignore it: Focus on a floater Splayed on a roundshot Safely approaching pushing into a dark spot Instead of the field ahead Three strikes and you’re out of it For a yearly check I had my pupils spread to your natural width And everything was blurred and glaring Waste of my vision Acing at 20 feet And nothing seems acausal in your trajectory And I’m out of it Found a way to get nauseous: Focus on a floater Splayed on a roundshot Safely imploding braced by a dark spot holder Instead of the field ahead Three strikes and youre out of it Way to ignore it Focused on a floater Splayed on a roundshot Patiently holding onto a dark spot over The stretch of field ahead Three strikes and you’re out of it The depth of field ahead Three strikes and you’re out of it A stead of field ahead Three strikes and you’re out of it Splayed on a cannonball for miles and days So I did some crunches Out with the water Out with the bath I’m doing better I’ll clean a spot you can walk on or eat off Walk on or eat off! Shoulder to shoulder We were abreast I guess I realized You can’t make eyes with a floater Shoulder to shoulder I acquiesced when you said You can’t make life with a floater I’m stuck with the need to ask: Are you down for this? I’m stuck with the need to ask How to get down from this

Save me & other things In a lion den A prolific long con whim of ease I choked on other tropes Scared of profiting off of precedent of temper tantrums Love reconnecting in the lion den Couldn’t try then Did it try to get bloody? When I see blood on me Baby who said to me (While we’re holding hands) Tryna decide should I say how I feel Saved me from everything From the highest depths In an MGM ribbon Baby: your name bequeathed Was it lying then, contrived then Did it try to get bloody? Cause I see blood on me Baby Was it lying then? Didn’t try to get bloody Cause I see blood on me Baby blood on me Baby put blood on me

When I was driving I think it was here I think it was you I rode a cyclone into the ocean And broke a light phone So I rode it again Is it a left turn? Cheated my gut again I’ve yet to make a mental map I rode an Amtrak back home And when I left the clothes I never saw them again File a report And never see it again Laptops fall onto big toenails Video guiding through The release of blue pressure with melted eyes Like a fall guy Over a molehill Wish I could have predicted Your arms & your head With an educated guess File a report And never do it again Never move a limb

Forget about it Anyway... Sounds good to me Don’t break it apart to see how it works There’s a pin in my bed so I’m sleeping in a ball If I had a hammer I’d hammer in the morn Hammer in the evening All over this land Hammer out danger Hammer out a warning And I’d hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters All over this land If I had a song I mean a bell, I'd tinkle in the morning if I had a bell Tinkle in the eveningtime All over this land Tinkle out danger Tinkle out a warning Tinkle out love between my brothers and my sisters All over this land Hammer out a warning Come again?

about

"One of the most striking musical developments in recent years has been the emergence of a hyper-online, dopamine-overloaded, post-everything kind of music from the furthest-reaching corners of online music communities. With streaming algorithms increasingly condensing all music into an impersonal genreless mush, and genuine boundary-pushing music becoming more and more marginalized in the public sphere, sounds that not too long ago would have had zero sense of cohesion with one another have taken on an entirely different context.

$quib’s music fits in well with the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink maximalism of their peers. On Erring, well-crafted pop songcraft can give way to glitched-out breakbeats and cascading noise, sometimes over the course of a single three minute song. But even in a community defined by heady experimentalism and personal idiosyncrasies, $quib feels like something different. There’s an underlying tension and anxiety perforating this music, a simple yearning to feel human in a time when every semblance of a shared humanity seems to be undercut at every turn.

Rather than wholeheartedly embracing chaos, Erring makes peace with its ebbs and flows. There’s a tactile, homespun element to its sonic patchwork, a sense of collage as a means of rolling with the changes and engaging the senses. Part of what makes this music so distinct is that it doesn’t feel like just a scream into the void. There’s a tangible sense of emotional resonance and vulnerability, especially in the vocals, that remains present regardless of how far-out things venture musically. It’s a thread that gives every individual sound its own sense of cohesion, without ever feeling like red meat for the phone-addicted.

One of my favorite descriptions of any piece of music comes from a sticker I read on a reissue of Richard Youngs’ Advent: “the apocalyptic outlook of an intense young man trapped in a season of hope.” Erring sounds nothing like that album, and I wouldn’t describe $quib’s outlook as apocalyptic per say. But the intensity, the weight of feeling everything, the compulsive desire to keep moving forward all feels true to life. It’s like a soul-bearing singer-songwriter album crafted from the smoldering remains of the fabric of reality, but with a persistent sweetness and melodic craftsmanship that makes it difficult not to love.”
