HEXEN.EXE

HEXEN.EXE is the main executable for the original DOS versions of Hexen. In the 2025 Heretic + Hexen remaster, Hexen is supported in the single heretic.exe executable.

Latest version of Hexen

Version 1.1r1 is 923,019 bytes in size, is dated 1996-03-14, and has the following hashes:

A slightly different, and rarer, version 1.1r2 is found in encrypted form (HEXEN11.MJ3) on some CDs (such as the Quake 1.01 CD) that contain id STUFF folders on them. There are various undocumented changes. Unfortunately, there is no revision change between these two versions, so both are called v1.1 in-game. This improved version is also 923,019 bytes in size, is dated 1996-03-22 and has the following hashes:
