How much can you collect before the ship goes under? How will you use what you have? Act fast and make constant choices to escape the sea or become its next victim.

Don't Sleep With The Fishes is a point-and-click survival horror game focused on rapid salvaging, resource management, and surviving day by day at sea.

You’re the captain of a ship on a covert delivery mission with a small crew. Without warning, something strikes the vessel, causing severe damage. You wait for the emergency horns. When they sound, you know you need to evacuate immediately.

Time is running out! Gather whatever you can and toss it into your lifeboat, before the ship sinks. Every item counts! Escape by staying near the boat at the end! However, it can only carry one more person besides you.

Use the daytime to spend your energy on fishing, eating, doing small tasks, or chatting to your shipmate (if you brought one). When you run out of energy, end the day and try to sleep hoping nothing disrupts your rest.

If your night does get interrupted, use an item you brought to handle the situation. If you have no answer, you can try going back to sleep. Sometimes, that’s your only option.

The game has multiple endings. In some, you may survive. In others, you won't.

CONTROLS:

W A S DMove Around
EPick Up & Toss items Into the boat.
MouseLook, Point and Click in the survival phase.

Alternatively you can Left-Click or Right-Shift to pick up and toss items into the boat.

Warning: This game contains jumpscares, flashing lights and loud noises.

Inspired by survival management games like '60 Seconds!'
and atmospheric fishing horror games.

Which languages are supported?

We almost had the secret ending....but things changed

Mobile port????

Ask a staff member if you can have a broom, if you are given a broom, sweep every table you have access to in the lotus.

Hi dev,

I've been streaming version 1.4 for several days now, and I've come across three bugs that I hope you can look into for the next update.

Bug 1: In the survivor ending for both the plane and the ship, the second round of dialogue/cutscene spawns infinitely and out of nowhere — it can even appear as early as day 2 in-game.

Bug 2: If you get sick before ending a session — for example, I got sick in one run and then quit and started a new game — it seems to trigger a bug where the character starts the new run already sick. This refers to the new sickness mechanic introduced in 1.4.

Bug 3: Regarding the garbage-collecting pirate octopus night event: if you have all items, it's supposed to give you food based on the amount of garbage you collected. However, it seems that when this branch triggers, the log entry for that day gets messed up or doesn't display properly.

As for future update suggestions:

I'd love to see richer log/journal entries, more story content, and a proper continuation of the water lily (sleeping lotus) night event.

The treasure chest mechanic — in most games, chests feel like a reward, but in this game, they almost feel like a punishment. They cost too much energy and often give you items you don't even need. I think the positive feedback from opening chests could be improved.

If the player has already achieved the true ending, the second and third fragments of the Ocean Heart should no longer be obtainable through fishing or treasure chests, since they serve no purpose at that point.

Thank you for your work on this game. I really enjoy it and would love to hear back from you. Also, could I get your email address so I can stay in touch? I'll continue to stream and promote your game here in mainland China.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello! The First two bugs should have been fixed already in the newest version!

Thank you for getting my attention for the third one, though!

Can you please add a reset data button? I dont want to manualy reset my data everytime i want to do the true ending.

The sea did not like me very much after I asked which they liked better Drake or kendrick...

Which Ocean is this in?

I never personally played 60secs but I could see the inspiration. Game was def fun I ended up playing longer than I anticipated : )

This game is so good but that fact if you lose the Medkit your game is over i think if you can make the medkit finds in chest or one of crewmate make it will be cool

You can! But the game wil only give you one if u have all the other items  (atleast thats how it went with me). And laurel can heal you if u are low on health. if u really need one you can give diving gear to the trader or handyman to get a medkit. Hope this helps.

Will the Itch version be kept up to date with Steam, and vice versa?

Hello! Yes, after publishing a Steam Update, an Itch.io Update will be made aswell.

Useful to know, thanks :)
Is the Steam version also DRM-free, or does it use Steam DRM?

i need russian language on steam, how to replace eng to rus ?

(+1)(-1)

please make a mobile version, this at work would be amazing

I got to say I have never played a 60 sec type game and i have to say...THIS GAME WAS HOT! I enjoyed every bit of it and made a series on my youtube check it out to learn tips and tricks! and be patience for the rest of episodes to come out they will soon be out!

It would be great if you provided a key to those who bought the game on itch.io before it launches on Steam ( I know two dollars is insignificant), but it’s a way to acknowledge that early support

(-1)

Soooo, this sounds stupid but I didn't check what device it worked on before buying it and I don't have windows.... does anyone know how to get a refund or something

Hi guys, if you wanna see  a chill funk gameplay, see this

I found that the sound effects for in-game nighttime events cannot be adjusted in the settings. This seems like a bug. Could you please look into fixing it? Thank you.

Hmm.. That doesn't sound right.. I'll check that out! Thanks for the info!

Oh hey, thanks for your reply! May I ask if I could share some suggestions for improving the game? Since I stream your game almost every day on Chinese streaming platforms, I can really feel what changes would make it more fun and improve the overall experience. I’d also be happy to help promote the Steam version of your game and teach others how to use AI translation to play it. So, would you be willing to give me a chance? If so, what’s the best way to reach you? Would Discord work?

DoppleGhost, your game is amazing. It reminds me of 60 Seconds: Reatomized, which is my favorite hardcore survival game. I supported your game by buying it on Steam, and on my seventh attempt, I managed to reach the true ending within 30 days of survival (you’d never guess how long it took to reach that true ending when I live streamed this)

This game is absolutely worth the $2. It’s also available on steam! Most addictive fun I’ve had in a while. Also SEND HELP! I still haven’t been rescued lmao

Amazing game, as I've said many times :D You should all buy it 1 trillion %.

Now that the game is out here and on Steam, I have some suggestions for future updates:

  1. Make the Duct Tape able to be used to repair the boat as a last minute small patch job. Maybe make it repair like 15-20% of the boat's HP, so it can be a clutch item on those days that you get blasted by an event late game and the boat ends up at 0% HP with not enough energy to repair. The moments where Duct Tape saves you would be so satisfying!
  2. For a large content update: Create a dedicated Survival mode and separate it from the normal story mode. Ideally Challenge mode would eliminate the story/lore items from the item pool, and be purely balanced around the challenge of things like "most days survived", no-item runs, etc. You could introduce features to this that wouldn't be appropriate in the story based main campaign.
  3. I think post-1.1.3, Frederik is looking like the new odd-man-out character. Now that fishing is much less punishing, his support ability is probably the weakest of the 3, and his item pool for sending to the island is perhaps the worst. Maybe his bait ability could be modified, here's some ideas:
    1. Current ability, but also increases the chance of high-food fishes to occur, like the squid and the swordfish?
    2. Today you will fish without bait, but fishing will be as effective as if you had bait.
    3. He uses the fishing net to catch a randomized pool of fish. Like a 1-3 fish combination that can be any fish in the game, using the normal fish loot table chances.
  4. Night event idea: An event where you encounter another traveler who is on a damaged lifeboat. Can only be encountered if you didn't bring a companion, and you can invite the traveler to board your boat and become your companion! Introduced as a new possible crewmate that provides a different set abilities than the 3 starter companions. This could even perhaps be a separate trader event, where the trader can appear even if you own every item he can trade you, but in that instance he offers to join you instead! (Just a thought.)
  5. Build ideas for the new companion:
    1. Has a 50 chance weight to bring with him the Dive Kit, otherwise brings a different smaller item (currently the special potential start items for the existing 3 are Anchor, Medkit, Harpoon, so another high weight item makes sense!)
    2. When visiting the island, he can find any item the other 3 companions can find (all 9 options), plus the possibility to find instead of 1 of those items: [Duct Tape + Energy Bar], and fallback loot is a randomized 1-3 Food (vs 1B1F, 2B, or 2F on the other companions)
    3. I was thinking his support ability could revolve around the Scuba Gear! Maybe he prepares the Gear or surveys the waters or something, and then the NEXT DAY (since support ability costs 1 energy), Dives are guaranteed to not cause injury, not damage the scuba gear, maybe gives higher odds of finding something? Could be a sweet and powerful ability that requires the player to plan ahead for it, and carries the risk of wasting it if you end up needing to repair the boat tomorrow. An alternative idea would be, it only guarantees the scuba gear wont injure you and dives tomorrow are free energy?

You absolutely cooked.

I've read it. Many things can be tweaked for sure. We will see :)

the game is actually Relly good, but I don't like how you only have 45 seconds instead of 60, this is a 60 second type of game I want it like 60 seconds so please make the time 60 sec instead of 45. please and thank you. I would give this game a 4/5. I would recommend. please add this to next update or make the ship smaller as said by evil.

(+1)

maybe make the ship bigger / smaller depending on what time you have, and maybe you can choose if the size is random, big ect...

tru

(+1)

it's possible to survive with helicopter?

Yes. Just got rescued by it when I had a flare gun to attract its attention.

(-3)

pretty good game except for the 2 bucks for it tho at least there isn't ads every 5 mins when that giant angler fish poped up that rly scared me I was 2 seconds away from taping the x button

2 bucks is insanely cheap for a game dude, most games cost around 10 to 20$

I get what you're saying but most games are free its worth it though

This Ocean Survival Game Has Me STRESSED!! - Don’t Sleep With The Fishes

Seriously to the creator, this is a truly fun and yet mysterious game. Pls make more like it and/or expand this more!!

This game genuinely makes me laugh in insanity, I have never had less fun in my entire life but what am I still gonna do? Play this game. I am 0-20 and would rather play a really intimate game on steam then even think about this game. 9/10
