Technical notes about tools, correctness, and turning research into software.

About

Hi, I’m Eddie. I’ve worked as a software engineer, researcher, and engineering manager across several companies. I was one of the original members of the GitHub Copilot team, helping take it from a research prototype to general availability. I was also the first full-time engineer on Error Prone, helping turn it from a 20% side project into a production Java static analysis tool widely used at Google.

I write about developer tools, software correctness, and the practical work of turning research ideas into useful systems. Most of the posts here come from things I’ve built, debugged, tested, or watched fail in interesting ways.
