PICK & MIX is a series of Esc.rec. catalogue deep dives by DJ. This is the sixth result, carefully selected and constructed by Peter Grevinga aka p/ttg//. He actually made the most intensive Esc.rec. catalogue mix in this series yet. By far.
Blending 4 tracks simultaneously, paying hommage to an insane amount of uncovered catalogue gems and combining the essence of Esc.rec. diversity with a fresh interpretation of the material and some serious crate-digging, this feels more like an extremely well executed collage than a DJ mix. But even with this intense density of short multi-layered fragments the mix still feels natural in its progression and really tells a story.
Peter was so taken by the richness of the catalogue that the result is not one, but two mixes, which can be experienced as both sides of a tape. After finalising this impressive feat he was even still a bit dissapointed that he couldn't do justice to all that he found, and had to skip some artists he had grown to admire. Peter even went so far as to say that "his life and musical journey are more or less captured in this mix".

Peter Grevinga is arguably the one and only godfather, supporter, and guardian of the Deventer dance scene throughout the years. Peter has a long history in Deventer and started out as a DJ at Club Maritime (IJsselhotel) in ’84. In the late 90s, he found his own path from progressive, tech, and deep house to techno and breakbeats. He shared many stages and B2B sets with many impressive names in the Dutch techno/house scene.
Label owner Harco Rutgers: "The downside of having a large label catalogue is that older releases tend to disappear from the public eye. A shame really, because there is so much excellent stuff hidden away in there. That's why I decided to ask several people who are more or less familiar with the label to dig deep and make a mix of their favourite Esc.rec. tracks. The way Peter approached this project caught me totally by surprise though. Even when he showed extreme enthousiasm for the catalogue as he was discovering it, and was often passionately telling me about his labour intensive work in progress, I still sort of expected the result to stay in Peter's own realm, which is mainly dancefloor orientated electronic music. It was a really emotional moment for me to hear for the first time how he had managed to re-contextualise a substantial portion of the Esc.rec. catalogue. Truly an honour and a tribute."
