Because the offices and staff and research projects, according to the article I just read, are being evacuated and replaced with political appointees, replaced in a political locale hostile to the service’s mission.

if accuracy matters then the restructuring, a crippling of the service, will put an end to its effect; will have the same effect as dismantlement with extra steps.

Replacing a highway with a trolley service that only goes between the politician’s favorite bar and his home and no stops in between might not be a dismantling of the transportation system in the most pedantically accurate sense of the word, but it has the same effect.

im gonna disagree with mx master. the wheel thingy was not useful to me and the overall quality fkr the price was not what i had hoped for-- controversial take, i know, but logitech aint what they used to be.

i ended up with the hyperx haste, the one with a bunch of ‘speed holes’ in it (just looked it up, looks like they updated the model number and removed the holes. a step backward imo). i originally got it with a view towards carrying it with my laptop, which worked very well. i found however thay i wasnt actually compromising anything, so that when i lost the 2.4ghz dongle (dont lose the dongle) i just ordered a new one (theyre a fair price especially compared to logi branding) and plugged the old one into my desktop as a wired mouse and im very happy with it as a daily driver in both roles. great battery life, no noticeable latency on the wireless, and the holes keep my hand from getting sweaty xD. also while theres rgb, its not obnoxious and fairly easy and relatively noninvasive to turn it off-- a lightweight (windows) program that doesnt harvest data. i have it shine a blue light at the minimum possible brightness just so i can tell if its on. lasts 3ish months on a charge, using it 3 or 4 days a week for several hours at a time. basically a whole semester.

overall a great product at a fair price and i recommend it.

its more efficient than a gas stovetop. not as efficient as an electric kettle.

anthropic can suck my nuts. i was doing calculus homework and wanted a tutor ai that could read my handwriting and do the work. claude actually does this well. so i decided to subsribe, but i couldnt get them to accept either of my card for like a week. i finally bit the bullet and gave waaaay to much of my info to a vcc company which anthropic finally accepts. all hunky dory for 2 days when they fucking ban me with no warning and no explanation and no real appeal (the appeal goes to a google docs form that you know definitely goes to an ai for review). at least they issued me a refund, but that’s snarled up with the infosucking vcc company for like at least 2 weeks. fuck their incompetent bullshit

im using a lenovo 2in1 model x12 rn, second hand for i think like $450 on ebay shipped. i installed fedora silverblue, it took about 30 mins including the time to download on my cell connection. i think you may be misoverestimating the difficulty involved in installing linux on anything made in the last 6 or 8 years.

I never have understood the common compulsion to serve bread with pasta. Pasta is already practically bread. I’ve never once been eating a bowl of pasta and thought to myself, “You know what I need to go with this? some rolls.” I’ve often looked around at my plate and that of the people around me and thought “90% of the rolls on our plates are going into the trash.”

In fairness they do help mop up sauce on the plate afterwards, but then again that’s why god gave us all tongues.

I dont understand the bruhaha that got you to -20. I have some of the same issues as you do. I don’t quite understand what laptops you’re looking at that don’t support linux, but maybe you’re using a particular distro.
