News@lemmy.world•The actual economic Impact of data centers on a place? That's a secret.
5·6 days agoYeah they always get tax breaks that incentivize them treating the general public like shit.
A good example is in office mandates for tech workers because of tax incentives.
Why can’t our taxes be used to help us instead of hurting everyone except some rich duche

News@lemmy.world•Gen Z’s use of AI is plateauing as youth feel less hopeful about the tech
14·7 days agoI’m thinking that eventually the corporations will all be AI all the way through and control even more than they do now.
Small business and normal people will still do a lot of the work by hand because they will be priced out.
But I also suspect there might be a good market for hand crafted code similar to other hand crafted goods. Some people will prefer it.

News@lemmy.world•Gen Z’s use of AI is plateauing as youth feel less hopeful about the tech
73·7 days agoIt’s useful. A little too useful. Enough that it starts to break all of the systems we have set up for our society. Especially capitalism. Now we will either need to adapt those systems or shun the technology for people to be hopeful. Otherwise it puts the technology at odds with its users.

I wonder if we got a group together to go on reddit and stack overflow and give really wrong programming answers and vote them to the top, if Claude would start sucking? They could always just revert to a previous model and it would probably be too hard to get enough people and content to have an effect with such large training sets. Maybe if you use ai? Lol

I think the only thing new about it is that the government is contributing 1k for kids born this year. It makes it easier for people to setup too. But yeah he didn’t think up some grand new idea haha as if that would even be possible

31·14 days agoBy that logic anyone not voting would be complicit too. It’s like it’s all of our faults but not really our fault at all. Hmmm. If only there were actual people making these decisions that we could identify and punish
