I just can’t enjoy Rust anymore. I used to love playing on low pop friendly servers buy to spend all arvo harvesting resources and building a neat house only for someone to raid and greif it while I’m at work made it a sisyphean hell.

All I wanted to do was build cool and interesting structures, maybe bag some unsuspecting players into a barred cell and force them to fight to the death, or pave the map with landmines, fun things like that.

The client assured me the server was connected to the network switch. It wasn’t until some repeated questioning about the indicator lights on the switch, which were mysteriously absent, that I realised we were talking about a patch panel and not a network switch.

This was before facetiming and decent res photo cameras on mobile phones.

I recently bought the 5-door Suzuki Jimny with a roof rack and ladder, and can confirm it’s the best and most satisfying car I’ve ever bought. Carries lumber on the roof, can drive up inclined that other 4wd cars cannot, floats over sandand mud, sipspetrol, it’s fantastic. It doesn’t come with a ton of stupid touchscreen controls or driver assist nonsense either, it’s just - a car - like they used to sell 20 years ago. It has a keyhole in the door and the steering column. It weighs about 1/2 what a jeep weighs, and 1/3rd of a big LandCruiser.

Yeah, kick it away, stand next to it, maybe put your foot on top of it to secure it if there are other people milling around, but never pick it up, not even to clear it unless the danger is extreme and imminent.

Knowing the condition of the gun (loaded, not loaded, one in the pipe, slide locked etc) contributes heavily to the prosecution, and picking it up contaminates evidence and could get you shot.

That being said, if the guy breaks free and is coming for the gun, pick it up and blat him in the head.
