  • I have worked at the grocery store, and remember many of the produce codes by heart. I practice them, its a silly fun thing for me to do in my mundane life. I stopped using the self check at my shop because they upgraded to AI involvement. However, they had one lane open the other day and I was in a rush, so I used self check.

The fucking Ai scans fhe produce it sees and gives yoy options to pick from. All pictures. I cannot put the item code in myself anymore, I have to select the photo based on what it thinks is on the register. Im not fucking dumb. this is shit is so dumb. I fucking hate it.

  • I dont really do dairy, love coffee.

once in a while, I take about a cup n a half of almond milk, a tablespoon of cocoa powder, and two tablespoons of sugar and heat it in a pot until properly combined. Then, I use it in my ice coffee.

I make a pot of coffee, I cool it to room temp on the counter, and add it to a juice jug thing I have. Put it in the fridge, cold coffee is all I drink.

Most of the time, I just have it black. Once in a while Ill adds some sugar syrup ive made leftover from some dessert recipie, and once in a while I make cocoa almond milk for coffee, but usualluly just black with ice. I make it too strong, but I like it this way.

Ive not had a jug of cows milk in ten years or more. The “barista blends” and oat milks are far too heavy for me, and almond milk seems fine, for the rarity I use it with coffee, and only when I do the chocolate thing ;)

  • the 50s, the 60’s, the 70’s …the 80s, the 90s, the early 00s…

okay now backwards, all the way back to BCE…

humans have learned with teachers, books, pencils and paper for centuries.

I have a son with severe ADHD. I work with his school and pay attention to his education. From what I see, pencil on paper is the best way for our brains to retain information, things like spelling and multiplication. Slow learning gives longevity and the ability to recall said information.

Show me the evidence computer learning is best, long term. One cant, because children learning on screens full time, are not entirely out or school even just yet. There are no long term studies. In my country, numbers are falling fast in education. We had a blip for covid, but it seems its not gotten better.

My son has to do something called Iready on the computer for Language Arts.

They make every lesson a game. Bright lights, cartoon characters, games, funny sounds. And least for my son, he doesnt retain it. Years on Iready, and he couldnt write a paragraph. One year with a teacher using traditonal methods (same as I been trying to do at home, how I learned) and he now can write one.
