I have almost 50 containers running on a £75 used mini pc from Ebay, chucked in the bottom of a cupboard. Anyone that tells you you need a giant server rack to self host is a gatekeeping moron

Big honerable mention to the interview with Trump where they pretended to lose connection. (It’s not a coincidence they named the capsule Integrity)

The best way I found to combat spam was to change my email address. Was it a pain? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely yes.
Suddenly I can just give my email address out to services I trust, and I set up a temporary alias for anything I don’t (although I tend to avoid those these days anyway).

Upvote tracking is a feature you have to enable in settings, it doesn’t do it by default. Also make sure to regularly take backups if that’s data you care about because it doesn’t sync anywhere.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Ageless Linux - Software for Humans of Indeterminate Age
6·1 month agoAlmost like these things don’t happen in a vacuum…
The long and short of it is this:
- Linux is the kernal, the bit of the OS responsible for interacting with hardware and organising processes that run
- GNU packages are a collection of small software programs that are present in virtually every Linux distro (things like bash, grep, and libc) that are needed to make the OS do useful things.
- together they make up “GNU/Linux”, which is often shortened to simply Linux. Which is fine, people will understand what you’re talking about from context, and only pedantic asshats will correct you in general conversation. This is the internet though and you’re bound to run into a pedantic asshat from time to time.
Or sold to advertisers…
Or your insurance company…
Or law enforcement…
My headcanon (and actually reading the wiki, it is pretty much canon) is that none of this is actually true, but just stories past down over generations.
We hear of the whole being digested over 1000 years thing from Jabba (translated by C-3PO) while he’s threatening them with execution, so it’s not exactly reliable info.
In fact evidence actually points to the contrary, from the wiki:
During Boba Fett’s escape, he spotted the body of a stormtrooper that was likely part of a search party years before. Despite this, the stomach acid of the sarlacc was still potent enough to have dissolved holes in the stormtrooper’s armor and scar Boba Fett after only hours of exposure.
