Privacy@lemmy.ml•Why does Signal want a phone number to register if it's supposedly privacy first?
42·11 months agoThe ONLY data Signal stores about you is your phone number, most recent registration time/date and most recent login time/date. They don’t know who you’re messaging or when you’re messaging them AFAIK.
You can see this for yourself at signal.org/bigbrother
Ecosia also has AI answers and bangs, you can use #g to redirect to Google for example.
Looks like your ‘y’ key isn’t working. Might wanna look into it.

I already use proton on PC, I needed one for mobile as well hence Calyx caught my eye.
(ProtonVPN’s free plan is limited to one device at a time, that’s why)

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What happens to my domain, website and email when I die?
15·2 years agoYeah, I made this post after reading that article. There is clearly a problem with how domains and their renewals are managed. I’m not sure what a solution would look like, though.
I use Ecosia, it plants trees with the profits from its ad revenue! Results are sourced from Bing and Google.

In my country, the state provides you with legal representation if you’re unable to afford it on your own. Is that not the case in other countries (USA and Europe specifically)?

56·2 years agoTheir generous offering of 10gigabytes of free storage along with a private, ad-free, end-to-end encrypted experience always sounded too good to be true. There was no way they could sustain that business model long term. At least they’re giving users enough time to jump ship and have not sold their data to Notion (judging by their twitter replies).

71·2 years agordx.overdevs.com doesn’t redirect to two different websites, it’s a subdomain (which essentially functions just like any other domain).
The name being long isn’t really a problem when most people just bookmark the sites they want to visit often and/or add the site to their home screen on mobile devices.
Moreover, using an alternate domain would incur additional unnecessary yearly cost & time to renew. The less maintenance these types of projects need, the better it is usually for them to survive long term.

TLauncher is not considered safe these days AFAIK. Source
