1·2 days agoThis is just the simple consequence of the American voters actions and Americans having the day they voted for.
Honestly I can’t be arsed to care more than a surface level because in the forty+ years of being alive, I know that Americans are simply doomed to repeat this cycle of going down the drain with their proud ignorance and sixth grade reading comprehension.

6·3 days agoAnd a vent about all of those who have “seen the light”, not this guy, this woman is a straight up continuing unrepentant moron, but others.
These narcissistic morons wants all of us to simply forgive and welcome them back into the fold without judgment, feel sorry for them, and provide them the support they “need” because they fucked themselves over with their stupidity and selfishness.
No, your actions had massive consequences for the rest of us, you don’t get judgment free forgiveness and unconditional support for your journey of getting your own head out of your ass.
You want that, take a picture of your ballot and post it online to prove that you actually learned your god damn lesson and don’t vote stupid in the next and every election because your words are meaningless when your lack of intelligence to figure out the obvious.

News@lemmy.world•Ceasefire is threatened as Israel expands Lebanon strikes and Iran closes strait again
19·4 days agoFrom AP live updates:
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Wednesday that a ceasefire and negotiations with the U.S. on ending the war is “unreasonable” as he accused the U.S. violating three of Tehran’s 10 conditions for an end to the fighting. It comes as the not yet day-old ceasefire appears at risk of fraying over significant disagreements between the parties.

politics @lemmy.world•Iran ceasefire deal a partial win for Trump - but at a high cost
10·5 days agoI think it’ll be worse.
I think his team will be desperate to end the stupid war he started, I think he’ll use his art of the deal to give Iran most of the ten point plan they want with no concessions to not seek out nuclear weapons, I think that might win on reparations but will lose the toll.
Either way I think Iran will extract money from the US taxpayer to restart their nuclear weapons program and this time they won’t stop because they’ve seen what America will do with Israel under Republicans and they don’t see Republican attacking North Korea even though they’re much the same except with nukes.

politics @lemmy.world•Iran war live: Trump agreed to suspend 'bombing and attack' of Iran for two weeks
3·5 days agoFrom the bbc:
And even if Iran does fully open Hormuz – without conditioning passage on tolls or other payments – its ability to control the key geopolitical chokepoint is more clear now than ever.
In a statement after Trump’s ceasefire message, Iranian foreign minister Seyed Aragchi said that Iran would halt its “defensive operations” and allow safe passage through the Hormuz “via coordination with Iran’s armed forces”. He added that the US had accepted the “general framework” of the Iranian 10-point plan.
That plan includes the US withdrawing its military forces from the region, lifting economic sanctions on Iran, paying compensation for war damages and allowing Iran to maintain control over Hormuz. It is hard to imagine Trump actually agreeing to any of those conditions – a sign that the next two weeks of negotiations could be treacherous.
Not exactly what I would call agreeing to open the straight.

News@lemmy.world•U.S.-Iran war 'tax' begins to hit American businesses and consumers
2·6 days agoNotwithstanding but as an American that didn’t vote stupid, I think that the American public deserves what it voted for. I would say the American public would learn but unfortunately with a voter base that averages a sixth grade reading and comprehension level, I don’t have low hopes.
Honestly, the people that I actually feel bad for our allies and the rest of the world that did nothing to start this asinine war and are feeling the exact same economic impact.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•The Lemmy userbase isn't much better than that of Reddit.English
13·6 days agoLemmy is still social media that’s full of anonymous posters with no consequences to their posts so of course discourse is going to be absolute shit with trolls and disingenuous people vying for imaginary points and wearing that negative points as a badge of honor.
That said, with a smaller user base, while there are still complete contrarian, disingenuous users, I do find that the discussion on average are at least better than reddit and the one key to better conversations and debates I found after moving from reddit is I’m much, much more judicious about using that block user button and block communities button.

Nothing special. I just run a instance of jellyfin and have a my book collection shared that way.
I’m sure not the most efficient but it works.
