My partner did this for me early in our relationship, they actually fed me and all of my overnight coworkers with a homemade meal. We have been married for more than a decade and I still tear up thinking about this memory.

Welp…that’s enough Internet today.
This video pops up every once in a while…I’m pretty sure it was claimed to be fake, but as I remember there wasn’t much detail other than the video itself.
I’ve heard both, but one of my mentors when the cloud rush started called it a pancake stack and it stuck for me.
Interesting, now I need to do some subtle questioning and see if they are iPhone users. I really appreciate the new knowledge and perspective!
A couple people at work use the white/black emojis instead of the yellow. I don’t know why, but it always seems weird to me that you took the extra time to select your race.
There is actually a “show NSFW content” toggle on your user settings. Just click the pancake stack in the top corner of the page, expand the arrow next to your username, then click the settings gear.
Also your username is spot on for your comment!

Relationship Advice@lemmy.world•My abuelo doesn’t understand my mental health, friend defends himEnglish
20·1 year agoI don’t know anything about your life or situation so please take this with a massive grain of salt.
Your grandpa may be a victim of a time when men were absolutely not allowed to have mental health struggles.
Seriously, I know some of us can’t even fathom that, but it simply wasn’t allowed.
There was no understanding, there was no conversation, and if you attempted to discuss the subject you would be met with very abrasive and inaccurate advice that is the equivalent of “suck it up” or “anxiety and depression are made up” as I am sure you have seen a lot of this still exists today.
I know this isn’t advice on how to repair or improve the relationship, but it might give you some small insight as to why he may be reacting this way. We may not be able to fix the older generations (not that we should give up), but if we keep normalizing talking about our struggles maybe the next generation will be healthier than us. It’s a small move, but in my life so far I feel like I have seen changes I never would have thought possible in adult men mental health.
Source: not a grandpa, but I make a lot of noise when I stand up from a comfortable chair.
I would rather have two burgers rather than a super tall or wide burger.

1·1 year agoOh yeah, it is way easier to spend than to earn! Cooking was a challenge for me, but after a handful of somewhat embarrassing failures my partner and I each have a decent list of things we can cook. We also have random “fend for yourself” nights where we eat leftovers, sandwiches, or whatever we can find. It definitely helps when you need to cut out some stress. Granted those are rarely healthy meals. I always keep at least one horrible (health wise) frozen item around just in case!

2·1 year agoThis is a really great idea, especially if you need to learn to cook a bit. These meal kits are very easy to follow and I still use some of the recipes I learned even though I haven’t used the service for a couple of years.

11·1 year agoWeird pitch, would you guys be able to cook your own meals or eat out for a week?
As in, don’t use anything you didn’t buy yourself for a week just to get an idea. Obviously that is not going to help you save up for your place, but the research might be worth it.
Also if you still live at home use this time to consider what you use to cook (pots, pans, utensils, etc)
I had no idea what food costs were until I moved out, I learned the hard way that I had to learn to cook or my budget would be forever broken, but grocery costs and budgeting are a whole other skill so it isn’t automatic that shopping and cooking will be cheaper if you don’t shop carefully.
Good luck, the very fact that you are thinking about this ahead of time is a good sign!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you believe that most people of your political creed don't?
14·1 year agoWhat an interesting take…I assume you will be down voted into oblivion, but it is thought provoking all the same. When I was younger I thought police helped people and I probably would have considered being a police officer. Now, I can’t imagine who would want to and I immediately question anyone who would. I have to imagine this is causing the people who truly want to help people to avoid the profession.
