The best part of that story is that the engineer on the project initially rejected the metal cap, because he knew it would not do anything to contain the blast. His supervisor overruled him, and insisted they install the cap. I mean, it’s moderately encouraging to see Dems doing something to fight Trump, but Congress doesn’t have the authority to utilize the mechanisms in the 25th amendment to remove Trump. They can issue articles of impeachment (again), but there are too many conservative senators and representatives protecting Trump for that to be viable, either.

This bill won’t go anywhere, and even if it did pass, it wouldn’t have any effect.

If ads weren’t obtrusive and deceptive, I wouldn’t feel the need to block them.

Yep, impeachment is a (slightly) more viable strategy, but impossible without major Dem gains in the midterms. Like I’m not even sure there are enough Senate seats up for reelection.

It’s not even as good as it used to be. The quality of the buns and the chicken have dramatically changed. Even the pickles are worse than they used to be. Their sodas have always been mostly ice, and the quality of the waffle fries has always been location dependent. How hasn’t another chain taken over their market share?

Anything happining to my kids. Like, I’ve always been afraid of things. Heights, small spaces, diseases, global catastrophies, etc, but having kids flipped those fears around from “What would happen to me?” to “What would happen to them?” Even the things that could happen to me, like what if I fell from a height is now “What if my kids lost their dad because I fell from a height?”

And the worst part is I know bad things will happen to them in their lives. It’s not a matter of If I die, it’s when. They are going to have that experience some day, and the best I can do to prepare them for it is delay it as long as possible while raising them to be emotionally secure and rational adults.

She-Hulk was fantastic. It captured the ridiculousness of the comics, balancing satire with action and some fairly decent CGI. It wasn’t perfect, and I’m not going to defend the twerking except to say that it made me laugh the first time I saw it because it was unexpected. Tim Roth was great, Madisynn and Wong could be its own series, and the red-pill incel cult was topical.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but you won’t convince me that a large percentage of the people stomping on the show are mad about being portrayed in the show. Some criticisms are valid, and I get why someone expecting an action adventure were disappointed to see a self-referential legal satire and dating drama that breaks the fourth wall. But there were too many people gleefully blaming the show’s shortcomings on “going woke” or “attacking conservative men.”

There are also a lot of critics who are simply tired of the oversaturated comic show markets, and torching the show was excellent for clicks and engagement (in large part due to the glee I just mentioned).

It’s sort of like a cancer patient having a tumor removed. There’s still a long road ahead to recovery, and plenty of opportunities for new tumors to replace it.

So I’m going to breathe a sigh of relief, take a few moments to enjoy the reduced weight of the world, and then prepare for the next steps.

I saw Squid Games already. Maybe it could be “Squid Games International” because it was so popular among the oligarchy, they brought it to North America.

It’s also important to fight a bunch of battles that don’t really matter to you. Trump does not give a flying fuck about PBS or the arts or wasting federal spending. He just knows his opponents do care, and will have to spend bandwidth fighting him on it. If and when he loses, he will use it to paint the picture of moderation, and insist things are unfair to him to lose every time.

Think bigger picture. If you don’t have the threat of poverty, you can’t convince workers to sell their time for less than it’s worth. That’s the entire basis for an investment economy. I pay you and sell your work product for more than I paid you, and you can’t say no because you’ll die ina gutter without my investment capital.

The thing you said is how they keep the masses working, by convincing them that 1) they need to buy stuff, and 2) they will deserve it if they work hard enough.

Who said homelessness is unsolvable? We don’t want to solve homelessness because poverty is the lynchpin for capitalism.
