Faux Poly continues its most prolific year to date with its ninth release of 202, introducing JOIA x Sol Elicio, a new duo from Portland, Oregon The release leans into a high-energy blend of jackin’ house and garage influences, driven by hypnotic vocals, a dark aesthetic, and a pulsing bassline. At the forefront is “ITMN,” a vocal-led bass cut featuring warped vocals, a murky, late-night mood, and sharp MC delivery. “Higher” is a jackin’ house and garage-influenced track, driven by hypnotic vocals, a dark aesthetic, and a pulsing bassline.

JOIA, the new project from Max Huseby, marks an evolution into melodic, euphoric soundscapes, blending bass-heavy beats, intricate rhythms, and uplifting yet melancholic melodies. Sol Elicio is a DJ, producer, and drummer known for a genre-fluid approach, mixing breaks, DnB, garage, footwork, house, and techno. Starting on Chicago and Detroit house vinyl at 15, he’s developed a distinct style that seamlessly blends genres into fresh, high-energy sets. The pair are already set to play the Cabin Stage at this year's iconic Bass Coast festival in Canada.

We wanted to embody UK underground club culture. I.T.M.N, (IMA TELL MY NAME) our lead single blends classic breakbeat with new age UK Garage. We wanted to create a feeling in the track that left you searching for a dance floor. For ‘Higher’ the goal was to have a cutty b side that blended modern day UK Garage with that classic Tech House sound we both fell in love with back in the day. We love the sound of analog gear. For these tracks, we made some distorted patches with Dave Smith's Pro 2, which was one of our most used synths right now.
