We can ask nicely, but we should also be prepared to fight a war. To that end, I wonder if these developers will make their app available on something like PostMarketOS.
Completely agree
I adopted Sailfish OS around a year ago seeing the writing has been on the wall. I get access to F-Droid for apps I need like Cheogram which helps a ton at bridging the gap while hopefully we get more device support for Linux. I want to us postmarketOS, but hardware is usually very, very old—to the point where things like new screens & batteries can be a problem.
I believe Post Market OS is actually beginning to support some currently in support devices. It was definitely made to support devices that were no longer in support, but I believe that may be changing over time.
You say you use sailfish OS, and I have a question for you. What kind of accessibility does it have? Because I use a combination of screen reader and system magnification all the time on Android, and so I really need at least magnification to be able to use the system.
I can’t comment at all on a11y of it, sorry
Damn, I can’t find anybody who actually can give me an answer as to what kind of accessibility features these systems have. And I can’t use any of them until I can at least get some answer so that I know what I’m working with. At the absolute minimum, I must have system magnification on the device.
Wow I missed this post originally but your experience getting delisted makes it clear that google has really poor footing for taking more control over the apps people use on android. It won’t be so easy as registering as a developer with google, they can still crush you through their malice or stupidity.
