am I the only one who thinks it’s kinda weird the Orban just conceded and that there weren’t any election shenanigans?

I just heard from a non-Hungarian colleague yesterday that in fact, they have been planning to skew the results - I guess they hadn’t invited those GRU agents from Russia for no reason. However, everything around them seemed to have claimed that either Fidesz was in the lead or there was only a slight difference, at best. This happens when you’re surrounded by yes-men.

I don’t think Orbán thought he was going to lose by a 2/3 margin. It’s a lot easier to argue shenanigans in a closer race

The guy who won used to be in Orban’s party. So my guess is that he’s going to be happy because his policies are largely going to continue, just under a different face.

      The illusion of choice.

I’ve been afraid of this since Magyar started his party (the first time I got worried was when he avoided a question about forming a possible coalition with Fidesz in case of winning the elections), but this far things are looking good: he wants to change the constitution (it’s not literally called a constitution anymore for (Fidesz) reasons, but you get it) so that literally nobody can be a prime minister for more than two terms. I understand this doesn’t prevent puppets and such, but if, IF, IF he is truly against corruption then considering everything else up to this point, there is a good reason to believe he won’t continue (most of?) Orbán’s policies.
