The discovery was made by researchers from the Faculty of Archaeology at the University of Warsaw, who resumed work at the site in 2023 after a 13-year break caused by Libya’s civil war.
“After leaving the Convention, production of anti-personnel mines is planned on Polish territory. We have identified manufacturers and suppliers of this type of equipment,” the Defense Ministry said, according to Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
According to an official statement, the investigation concerns allegations that Austrian businessman Gerald Birgfellner was misled into making unfavorable financial decisions, resulting in a loss of no less than €1.3 million.
