Do You Turn on the Big Light?

I will never turn on the “Big Light.” The term has become shorthand for any overhead, flush-mounted light — especially a boob light, especially one with a glaring, cool, too-bright tone. I’m not the only one — as Luke Winkie reported for Slate*, *the Big Light is polarizing, and it’s become a source of domestic discord between partners and roommates, some of whom see turning on the Big Light as an act of war.

Either the big lights don't work at all (living room, bedroom) or they are the only lights (computer room, kitchen). I do like overhead lights in the kitchen, just for being able to see what I'm cooking and cleanliness.
Can't argue with that. But diffused lighting can be bright, it doesn't have to be a billion candlewatt spotlight directly overhead. Can lights are just cheap and look shiny in the for sale listings.
Imagine being so fragile that overhead lighting is a deal breaker.
Fucking Disney iPad babies in adult bodies, everywhere...
I had a brain injury as a teenager that left me with extreme sensitivity to bright light, to the point of it triggering debilitating migraines.
It’s not fragility, and you’re an asshole who deserves to suffer since that’s the only way you’ll ever gain empathy for others.
It's a deal breaker for me and I'm none of those things.
I say deal breaker, but in fact it just means I don't go to those places where people have interrogation lights on all the time. Those people don't care and I don't have to put up with it. Win-win.
