“It’s sad that people try to make it controversial when you speak out for children that are facing immeasurable suffering,” Griffin-Accurso said. “The largest cohort of child amputees in modern history. That acronym for a child who has no surviving relatives. I think it should be controversial to not say anything.”
Yes
You know it occurs to me that when all you care about is money, you may think that the only motivator people have is money.
I.e. The only reasons that anybody does anything is for a pay day. That means you either think everyone"like" you must think like you and the only reason they don't say so is because they have been paid (since that would apparently be enough to get you to say the opposite of your beliefs). OR, that they don't have morals (or strength of conviction) and need to be told what to say.
What is most worrying about that is the implication that a supposedly unbiased journalist can be assumed to be open to publicly say things against their beliefs if the price is right.
Good point. I genuinely believe the pursuit of wealth is, like anything else, a psychosis at a certain point. Like, Musk is upset that people don't like him. Why did he ever have to be in the public eye? Why is he still working when he has wealth and hundreds of children? My grandpa was told that, in his retirement, if he wanted to continue to produce and sell Adirondack chairs at a factory level he would have to pay sales tax. He didn't want to figure that out so he stopped working, and died. My dude, you like fishing and watching sports coverage. Just do that. Why do you NEED to work? That's not normal.
Yeah, it’s projection. “I’m only pro-Israel because they pay me, so others are only pro-Palestine because they’re being paid.”
"Please stop bombing innocent children. They haven't done anything wrong 🥺".
Are you fucking HAMAS!? Do you hate the JEWS!? 😠
Like fuck... i just don't like seeing a little dead girl hang on a fence wearing a backpack with her limbs blown off. Excuse me 🖐️😐🖐️
Apparently they are accepting money from genocidal governments to push their propaganda.
There's got to be a defamation case in this, no? It's maliciously claiming she was involved in a crime, without any evidence.
I've read the NYT article, and I can't see anywhere where the author 'sincerely considers the idea that Rachel Griffin-Accurso, the popular children's entertainer known as Ms. Rachel, might be financially compensated by Hamas.' Instead they report that 'the advocacy group StopAntisemitism' 'sent a letter urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate whether Accurso is receiving funding to further Hamas’s agenda.'
The article as a whole seems pretty positive towards Miss Rachel, and uses her comments to point out how bad things are in Gaza, and insinuates that StopAntisemitism are the problematic ones.
the advocacy group StopAntisemitism' 'sent a letter
That's my problem with the article. This letter is meaningless. They might as well report "crazy people send crazy message and are promptly ignored". Why give them a voice?
From the rest of the article I very much got the 'crazy people send crazy message' message, but I can see how that might depend on the reader.
You say the letter is meaningless, but I think we have to be careful. Sesame Street teaches kindness, inclusivity and caring, and I think the republicans would be only too happy for an excuse to tear it down.

People seem to have either forgot or just not know the NYT has always had a neocon, jingoist, America BEST superiority complex when it comes to anything approaching 'foreign policy'.
Does... everyone remember when they spent a whole lot of time amplifying the Bush admin's bogus claims and outright lies justifying the GWOT, Iraq invasion 2 electric boogaloo?
Hyped up the 'threat' from Iran, to functionally make Obama and the Dems seem weak on foreign policy?
And that's just in my lifetime...
Any whoosie, I'm sure that's all just a coincidence and is in no way related to the CIA's vast, documented history of involvement in and manipulation of US domestic media publications.
My grandfather used to half-jokingly call them the CIA's press wing.
Judith Miller sucks.
From Wikipedia:
Judith Miller (born January 2, 1948)[1] is an American journalist and commentator who is known for writing about Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction (WMD) program both before and after the 2003 invasion, but her writings were later discovered to have been based on fabricated intelligence.
The weird part is that they're not; NYT does a lot of good journalism, sometimes even on Palestine, but then they go around and pull shit like this.

Do you remember Judith Miller and the leading role the NYT took lying the US into the war in Iraq? Whatever "good" journalism the NYT does, it's just to buy them the legitimacy they need to spread the lies that matter.
The best journalists that worked for the NYT are journalists fired from the NYT. There was a great list of them somewhere.
If there were a doctor that saves 99% of his patients but actively kills every 100th then that isnt a very good doctor.
For a newspaper the acceptable frequency of lying about and protecting genocidal maniacs is zero. If you fail this absolute basic level of journalistic dilligence your entire newspaper becomes worthless.
I'm with you. Great journalists doing vital reporting around the world. However, the Times as a company is shit, the editorials as garbage, and the prioritization of stories is neocon AF
News is a critical industry; like anything it is corruptible and in a capitalist system corruption via greed is inevitable
Someone needs to kick that interviewers face in. Being a lobbyist and asking loaded question is one thing, but being a journalist for a newspaper that understands itself to be a pillar of democracy and asking such an obvious bullshit question needs to be met with a harsh reaction.
I never really had much thought about Ms. Rachel but now that I have a little more information, she is a gem!
