Explanation: Liberal arts professors are often odd birds. Colonel Joshua Chamberlain was a liberal arts professor before the US Civil War - a professor of rhetoric. He took a period of leave from his college position when the war broke out, supposedly to study languages in Europe, and then promptly joined the Union Army instead. What a chad!
He was the highest ranking officer during the defense of Little Round Top at Gettysburg, throwing back a Confederate advance with bayonets once his unit ran out of ammunition.
He was also played in the movie Gettysburg by the same actor (Jeff Daniels) who plays Harry in Dumb and Dumber, thus providing both pictures.
