I don't the poster that told me to kill myself and video it for him to laugh at was MAGA.
Plenty of liberals are against opposing points of view. Lemmy for example, is actively hostile to conservatives, even tho not all conservatives are rich white guys and extreme. Plenty of minority and gay and trans conservatives. But Lemmy doesn't wanna hear that and tries to run/bully conservatives off of Lemmy every chance they get.

Regardless of what you think of a political party, it's not cool to ask someone to kill themselves and film it so you can laugh at it. A difference of political opinions doesn't mean that people stop being human.
I'm fine with someone wanting me to move away. Not so cool with them asking me to kill myself and videotape it for them!
I have been to parts of Africa, and it's beautiful! But I won't be moving there.

Thank you. Honestly. I used your message as an example to my bf of what kind of people Lemmy should be made of. People who are open-minded, even if on opposing sides of the political spectrum.
In my experience most people are Lemmy are pretty cool, but I'm been noticing an uptick in extreme hatred from people who self-describe as "left."
I for sure don't subscribe to everything he convervative party does, but in my little area, the conservatives have been cool and welcoming to me. Seeing a hateful comment like that was definitely a new thing for me. This kind of division is bad for everyone, regardless of political party.

I've just arrived home from vacation and this is what I found when I logged in. My bf read it before I did and yelled out a "What the fuck?!" So I came to see what he was talking about and see that DM. My bf is very upset. Sucks because I was just talking up how great Lemmy is. And then he sees that message directed toward me. :/
Very troubling that there are people like this on here.
I reported the DM via the flag icon on the actual DM and sent a message to @ruud@lemmy.world an admin for .world, but I don't know if that was the right person to report it to or not.
Another example of how extreme and hateful Lemmy can be to the trans community on here...just because some of us are conservatives.

I see more hateful attacks on here than I ever seen on Reddit. I like the idea of Lemmy, but Reddit seems to be more well-behaved than Lemmy.

soooo much! Not only is this becoming an "advocate violence" platform, people are getting pissed if they have a post removed for advocating violence. Lemmy will def end up in the news after some crazy shoots up people and they find out he was all over Lemmy being cheered on to shoot billionaires or something.
