@davbucci @synths @synth late '80s/early '90s synths definitely have their own special character. It wasn't an ideal time to *start* with synths, but it definitely left a legacy worth poking around in.

@electronicmusic @psychedelicmusic @experimentalmusic I know I picked up like a dozen followers this past week... If you're one of those, go have a listen! Getting the word out about my music is the main reason I'm here.

@mc @synth @synths For sure. I have too many hardware synths to argue that point 😅 but I do want to emphasize that if you have the technology to read this post, you almost certainly have the tech available to learn synthesis, no additional gear or dollars necessary.

@mc @synth @synths lots of free synths in software, too! and lots of cheap non behringer options in hardware, too! I definitely agree, get yourself a synth and learn the hands-on way (with or without my assistance)

And hey, you can ALSO listen on Ampwall and those sales definitely count toward my total! (Actually, they're even better because Ampwall is currently offering a MUCH better deal than Bandcamp)

Just listen! That's all I'm asking.

Meanwhile, Ampwall fans call it "a twisting web of undulating, pulsing, living sounds, kept moving by infectious beats and grooves" and "Glitchy & grindy ... tripped-out & ambient ... always shifting & churning & full of crunchy, spacey electronic groove"

@TheFreshBeets @synth @synths Working on it!

My host is very cheap 😅 and I am a shared plan, so probably means someone else's website is getting some serious traffic. If I can get my writing to a level where it's not a major money loser, I intend to upgrade but may be a while off. Appreciate your patience in the meantime.

And I really WILL get to that FM page!

Finally, if you want a hands-on example/walk-thru of those principles and techniques explained in text, photographic and video form, you can check out this blog post I did for a related project, which details building a basic subtractive patch in modular.

Curiously, neither Ampwall review calls it "weird" but it is called "otherworldlly" and "tripped-out" which are more or less fancy ways of saying weird, right?

Also, I am very humble, and have a deep desire not to be wrong and spread incorrect info, so if you think I got something wrong, reach out and we'll figure it out and make it right.

@glass @synths @synth Until last year, I was hardware only across the board-- no DAW, no VSTs, only used a computer to distribute, but record/produce.

I do have the opsix vst, but I still prefer programming the hardware version. Much easier for whatever reason. I haven't spent much time with the vst, tho, so my opinion may change when I do.

@DigitalDruid @psychedelicmusic @experimentalmusic @electronicmusic Fucking A, it is! That's a fantastic endorsement, friend! Thank you for listening and thanks for the kind words.

@SamanthaJaneSmith @synth @synths It was good enough to keep, but I am not a "own 20 synths" guy. I want one great synth in each category, and "digital hardware poly" turned out to be a wildly competitive category!
