I began to test my angular application in recent Opera (12.00, OS X) and found that clicking the links without href attribute does not always prevented, so it messes up navigation. Adding the "return false" fixes the issue to me.

It causes various bugs! Please see #1651, #1674, #1662, #1729
For my issue #1729 this not fixes even Opera behavior it must fix

this commit got reverted by 14948cf.

@sgtpep if you can provide a test case for opera that shows the buggy behavior, we'll fix it in a different way.
