Proposal

Since the launch of the userland-migration initiative, quite a lot has happened, so we want to talk about it and see what the rest of the project thinks. We will then discuss the future of this initiative within the project.

I estimate between 20 and 25 minutes. But that depends mainly on feedback from the other project members.

Pre-requisite knowledge

You don't need a lot of complex knowledge to follow this session.

  • You need to be comfortable with the concept of deprecation in Node and the concept of breaking changes.
  • You need to have a basic understanding of AST to understand what can be achieved.

  • Report on what has been accomplished since Dublin
  • Get feedback from other project members
  • See what can be done to move forward with this initiative
  • See how to integrate userland migration into the feature addition process. That is, how to get the codemod before the release of Node.js
