E. Denise Billups is an American author born in rural Alabama, raised in New York City, formed by a multicultural environment. Previously a Wall Street Portfolio Analyst, Denise now writes haunting paranormal mysteries, suspense, and thrillers. The rigors of ballet shaped her childhood and earlier years — a discipline she carried into her writing. Today, Denise lives in New York City, where she’s a fitness fanatic by morning, a writer by day, and an avid reader during her free time. When she’s not penning her next thriller, she’s lost in the pages of a book, indulging her passion for literature or surrounding herself with friends and family. Amazingly, the first chapter I wrote, turned out to be the novel’s last chapter, the conclusion. The pen seems to have a mind of its own. My original intent was to write a romance/thriller about two anonymous bloggers, but it turned into something quite different over time—a murder mystery with a touch of paranormal. The pen goes where it wants to go.(less)

It just means you need to step away from writing and do something else, preferably something just as creative. I love creating book trailers and developing my character’s world on film. So when my writing’s at a standstill, I craft a short logline and from that one or two sentences create a book teaser which usually inspires my next word or chapter.(less)

Bringing Beneath Beauford Grove to Life: Meet Narrator Virginia Ferguson

Creating an audiobook is a kind of magic all its own.

When I decided Beneath Beauford Grove would become an audiobook, I knew finding the right narrator would be crucial. This story, with its blood magic, family curses, and Southern Gothic atmosphere, needed a voice that could carry both the darkness and the beauty of Beauford

“Honestly, I never really understood the glorification of Fridays & weekends.

I don't want to build a life and career, where I spent five days a week waiting for the weekend. No!

I want to enjoy my life, and don't wish any weekday away. I want each day to matter to me, in some way, even if it's a small tiny way.

I love my life. Everyday. That's the spirit we should convey all around us.”
