No one deserves that much money and I’m not arguing in favor of what they did. I’m just pointing out that getting rid of that many people is way, way, more than $30,000,000 on a payroll.

I assume most of the layoffs were in support roles and not the main coders or hardware engineers. I assume it was a lot of secretaries and intern level stuff and phone rep and sales people supplemented by commissions and cleaning crew and maintenance jobs. Probably shut down some service offices too.
Enough for 400 employees.

Hyenas in general. Like, is it really the best idea that they just like eating prey ass first while still alive? Seems like a dick move.
That’s perfectly spot on, and super disturbing that it exists to begin with.
Lol. Oddly enough, I’m totally that guy. Also, the sauce I usually keep around is what most would say is way, way, too hot.

4·9 days agoLol. They aren’t currently doing it for large scale production.
They also claim that while they could do it, they haven’t modified the plants to make it where their seeds will produce the drugs. Only the current modified plant.
They also said the could just as easily do this to tomato, corn, or potato.

2·13 days agoUnion lock down. Hit 7 million and no instances part of the fediverse are allowed to have more than 40k subscribers or members unless they already had more when the 7m hits. Then only one new instance a month can be added to the fediverse, and all that apply get voted on to be in. Lol
I’m like 95% sure this is shopped.

2·13 days agoI’m old. Chatrooms old. Went through digg and reddit from their infancy. Problems don’t show until you start climbing over 10,000,000 active users. That’s when eg9s and advertisers and bots and manipulation and overwhelmed mods and all the bullshit starts to chip away at things. 4 to 7 million users is the golden zone. Active and plentiful subs. Little enough bullshit.

15·13 days agoIt’s gotten a bit busier as far as new posts showing up go (been here since reddit api debacle) but we need like 4,000,000 more users, and then if we just held right there, we’d all be able to live happy little lives. There’s still just not enough people to support smaller, more niche instances.
On a side note: Doubly fuck reddit again. I don’t get on there to use it, but occasionally I’ll hop into an old sub looking for info. Got a notification that /humor deleted my post of a funny poem thing from 15 friggin years ago. One of only 2 posting I ever made that still occasionally got comments on.

You don’t know what jobs they cut. It was likely service offices and phone help and secretaries and maintenance people and commissioned sales people and such. They couldn’t have cut 30,000 programmers and hardware engineers.
