Yeap, it is so frustrating! If you discharge a firearm in a busy street, even if you didn’t hit anyone, I doubt they’d say “Well you probably shouldn’t own a gun for say a year or two, but after that, have at it, I mean you’re otherwise a top bloke!” Super frustrating!
Please don’t let one idiot ruin it for you! One time I was wanting to turn at an intersetion but it was a busy’ish road and I slowed, pulled over, checked behind and then pulled into the centre and signalled my turn. It took some time to do all this. In the meantime a car that was on a STOP sign, pulled out in front of me (they were probably unclear what my intentions were) and stopped in the middle of the road, leaned over to wind down the opposite window and yelled at me. Again, they were on a STOP sign but no, I was the problem!
Did I stop biking forever after? No, I recognised that they were an idiot that massively over reacted to a simple misunderstanding and put everyone at risk to have a tantrum in the middle of the road!
Awesome! Now vote representatives in based on their active transport infrastructure plans! 18% would swing almost any election! Cargo bikes and the ever growing range of micromobility options are great but as ever safe infrastructure is key! The great news is that once it’s built out ongoing maintenance is negligible compared with the endless march of pothole repairs, adding ‘one more lane’ and resurfacing car infrastructure requires!
Every single person I’ve talked to about this, including those that have traveled to the US as tourists in recent years, say they wouldn’t currently travel there. The non zero chance of being “administration error’d to a gulag” is pretty off-putting?! What a time to live!

LOL even in a lunatics running the asylum world, they would know not to put the town drunk in charge of the nukes! Yeah, it’s infuriating! Elon said something along the lines of Humans drive all the time just using their eyes, so we can replicate that with just cameras. Leaving out the fact that one of the benefits of a self driving system should surely be that it’s in many ways BETTER than humans which are often terrible at driving in fog, torrential rain, low light/night time etc!? It was almost a point of pride that his cars would be every bit as shitty as a human driver to a fault!
I guess his robots are going to be just as weak and frail as humans and need sick days and simulate getting tired and dropping things too?? I can just imagine one of his robots entering a room and saying What did I come in here for again?? I think I need a nap!?
Clarity over what can and can’t use “bike lanes” is sorely needed in this day of electric bikes/scooters/wheel chairs/mobility scooters etc blurring lines and shifting goalposts. There’s been a welcome explosion of micro mobility options and there needs to be clarity around what can go where as it’s all over the show at the moment?! It’s part a public awareness campaign issue, laws and regs, as well of course a major infrustructure issue.

It’s an important reframing. A reminder to not blame the victim. Roads bisect ecosystems. Some flora and fauna can’t ever cross them. Some like deer can but risk being killed. All this has a dampening effect on genetic diversity by bisecting populations into ever smaller areas of smaller populations. For these deer maybe it doesn’t matter so much, but for some species it matters a lot. Roads everywhere cut the landscape into islands (especially for insects for example) meaning populations are often divided into smaller ones of less genetic diversity. Less genetic diversity often means less robust populations. I am not an expert but this is how I understand it. The poster barely hints at this but there’s only so much you can achieve in a poster but the reframing is a start. Jaywalking laws were a reframing that was designed to transfer the blame from the car and driver to the pedestrian in accidents. The new laws said that cars weren’t the problem, the victims being run down were the issue as they shouldn’t have been in the way of the car.

It would be irrelivant. Trump will change anything and everything to suit his needs. You can change whatever you want and he’ll just change it back on day one. You know, that one day he made very clear that he was going to be a dictator. That’s the one day set aside to change every single thing he needs to. After that, nothing else matters.
I’ve always found this subject fascinating. Why are we all so different in this regards? What’s going or not going on up there? Anyway, this is my result…
I imagined a bright red ball, like a shiny red plasticy looking ball
The “person” pushing the ball was just a disembodied arm, the ball rolled and bounced around the pool table much as a pool ball would
The arm was pretty much my arm. I didn’t bother to visualise the person, instead concentrating on the interaction with the ball.
The ball was larger than a pool ball, maybe softball sized or even slightly bigger
The table was basically a pool table, green felt, but smaller or maybe the ball was just much bigger
All this I knew from my visualisation but when answering the questions I probably solidified my thoughts a bit. When viewing things they are constantly changing or shifting to match new information/ideas/concepts of what’s there. I don’t really see the whole scene at once easily, instead focusing in on different aspects of it. For example if I’m concentrating on the red, shiny ball then the table is just a green plane/background.
Wow, that’s a bummer :-/ For me it’s 15-20 min by car assuming a few minutes walk to where I’ve parked. 25 min by bike (20 min by road but I take a safer ‘scenic route’) and about 40 min by bus and about 10 minutes of that is walking to/from the bus stop. And the bus fare gets capped at 8 trips per week so every trip thereafter is free meaning if you commute to work every day, Friday and all weekend will be unlimited free trips.
One of my carless kin! There are dozens of us!! The number of times people have assumed I can’t go somewhere “because it’s raining” and I’m just like, I have a jacket and an umbrella! But what if you’re biking?? Um, I have a jacket, a backpack cover and leggings and sometimes… if I’m just heading home to a hot shower and a change of clothes, I just get soaking wet! Like absolutely sodden! NBD! And if I’m heading somewhere without the option of a change of clothes, I bus there and that leads to a whole other issue of “But that must take ssooo long!?!” Yeah sure, a bit longer, but I can relax, pop on some headphones, set google maps to tell me when I’m near my stop, watch/listen to something and let the driver worry about the driving!
So because you will be able to generate game assests easily without weeks of modelling and texturing etc games will be waaaay cheaper to buy right?… Right?…
Of course, your safety and the feeling of being safe should be prioritised. I was knocked off my bike by a car running a giveway/yield sign and that did cause me to massively change my cycling habits and choose safer routes even if it means going well out of my way. As a result I have minimised time in traffic dramatically, but I am in a city where that’s an option. Sadly not the case in most places :-/ I know it would be hard not being able to continue biking in a way that felt safer to do so.
