My name is Matt. I enjoy helping people with technology related issues. I also like adorable animals.
O! had I the ability, and could I reach the nation’s ear, I would, today, pour out a fiery stream of biting ridicule, blasting reproach, withering sarcasm, and stern rebuke. For it is not light that is needed, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake. The feeling of the nation must be quickened; the conscience of the nation must be roused; the propriety of the nation must be startled; the hypocrisy of the nation must be exposed; and its crimes against God and man must be proclaimed and denounced.

2·2 months agoI was on GrapheneOS for ~6 months as my daily. I agree that for the most part it “just worked”.
However, after the 3rd time RCS messages broke on T-Mobile requiring Google Messages to be reinstalled every 36 hours, I gave up and went back to stock.
If the GrapheneOS devs implement their version of RCS, I’d gladly go back.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Finally switched my fiancee to bazzite, fuck me was it a trialEnglish
5·5 months agoWhich, this solves a lot of Windows issues even if you don’t use Linux.
Look, Raymond. A yellow crested warbler.
Me learning Linux:
I have no idea what the difference between systemd-boot and grub.
Also, I’m not going to check which one is being used, I’ll just remove the one I don’t like
Linux:
Get after it chief
Why did I have both installed? No idea. Did I have to make and use a recovery USB? Absolutely.

2·6 months ago“Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.
She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine."

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone have suggestions for buying a webcam?English
3·8 months agoIf you’re handy, you could try making your own! https://youtu.be/K1T1eMyPIC4
I know you said avoiding Logitech namly, but the Logitech C920 is one of the most recommended webcams because of the price, quality, and features (physical privacy cover, FoV, etc.). The other benefit of having a popular webcam (or any PC hardware) is it means better software support.
Otherwise, there is a c920 clone Aukey PC-LM1E 1080p

Astronomy@mander.xyz•Learning The Basics Of Astrophotography EditingEnglish
2·10 months agoAlways appreciate updated and current videos on the process, even if I can’t mimic on Linux.
Something that has always frustrated me about the editing process is that every program has its own unique features
Some you get wavlets
Some you get stacking and aligning
Some you get level adjustments and curves
All while most of the programs are deprecated and/or abandonware
I think currently I have Registax, Auto Stakkar, Siril, PiPP, and Gimp installed for processing just because some programs perform features better than others.

1·10 months agoSame sentiment - I’ve been looking at some alternatives like the Legion Go or Asus’s variant and putting SteamOS on it - but I’d really rather stick with Valve’s own hardware if possible.
