Thanks for sharing that mindfuck. I honestly would’ve thought something was wrong with my cognition if you hadn’t mentioned it was a test beforehand.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Valve reveals new Steam Hardware for Early 2026English
19·5 months agoThat is the most important bit here. Valve, effectively, launched a new gaming console that just so happens to be compatible with more games than any console out there. If they can use the install base of this platform to force developers to build compatibility like what they’ve done for the steam deck, this is going to be huge.
Oooh, now there’s a fun idea for a sequel/spin off.
There are also several YT videos with trauma surgeons and ER nurses rating the injuries sustained by Marv and Harry. Even the innocuous ones would leave them permanently scarred, most would cripple them for life, and a good couple of them would be instantly lethal.

World News@lemmy.world•Money-losing Japanese automaker Nissan is selling its headquarters building to gain cashEnglish
3·5 months agoWhat on earth are you talking about? It’s on the 370Z chassis, one of the most loved enthusiast platforms out there.
Anyone wrapping it around a tree has a case of driver error to blame. Having owned every generation of Z since the 300ZX, I found it to handle excellently.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•So I'm fashionably late to Solasta. What custom campaigns did you folks enjoy?
4·5 months agoHaven’t played any of the custom campaigns, but the game is very fun in terms of it’s mechanics (I’d argue it’s superior to even BG3 in that specific regard).
I didn’t create a new party for the expansion, but that’s largely because I set up the team to have abilities that all feed off each other for some truly disgusting amounts of damage.
Let the community know which ones of the custom campaigns you liked best. I’d love a reason to jump back into the game :-)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•It is now 89 seconds to midnight. Closest it's ever been. How concerned are you about global war?
6·5 months agoI agree with the sentiment, but in going to “uhm acksually” you on the size of the nuclear stockpile. Russia still holds more nukes officially: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_states_with_nuclear_weapons

Technology@piefed.social•AWS vs Azure vs Google. The battle for the cloud crown
1·5 months agoThere are some pretty big projects on GCP and because they invented K8s a lot of folks run container workloads there.
But yeah, in the grand scheme of things they missed the boat a bit. I am honestly surprised given Google’s history of killing products, that GCP is still around.

World News@lemmy.ml•Trump confirms the CIA is conducting covert operations inside Venezuela
14·6 months agoDon’t be surprised if the answer is “both”. He’s a stupid man obsessed with the optics of looking strong and successful. Boasting about this while completely oblivious to the obvious consequences fits right in his M.O.
I was hyped as hell when I saw this, only for the comments to skewer it before I even had a chance to see the video. I’ll remain cautiously optimistic this will shock the company into stepping up their efforts to do this classic the dignity it deserves.

Games@lemmy.world•GTA V was released on this day, 12 years agoEnglish
7·7 months agoFor some reason this made me feel much older than knowing GTA V launched 11 years ago. I grew up with an NES.
Since nobody mentioned them yet, Strapping Young Lad - Detox.
Honestly though, anything that Devin Townshend touches is gold.
Nah, we got them fancy sliding tabs on those. I was talking about loading programs from tape LOL.
Same. I remember needing converters for these newfangled PS/2 connectors. Then again, I am old enough that I remember why floppies were called floppies, and used tape for more than just backup. And hard drives being as big as a shoe box and with less storage than you now have as CPU caches.

People Twitter@sh.itjust.works•[UPDATE: fake] They made his car "cease & desist"
91·8 months agoYou might be off by a couple of years there. And even if you aren’t, the 3G network those cars would’ve relied on for communications has been shut down so remotely doing anything to your 2004 car today would be impossible.
I was going g to comment how I have the thing pictured, but that it comes with several real drawbacks. Not just mosquitoes either. Imagine having to buy and operate your own snow plow to leave the house in winter. Or buying groceries in bulk because the nearest Walmart is a three hour drive.

World News@lemmy.world•Cambodia to nominate Donald Trump for Nobel Peace Prize, says deputy PMEnglish
4·8 months agoAnd that’s why I am in favour of abolishing the Nobel peace prize. It’s a clearly politically charged award that rewards an individual’s or group’s actions during a particular snapshot in time, which they then get to have as their accolades for the rest of their lives.
And yes, you could make that argument for every Nobel prize, but unlike rewarding peace efforts that the nominee could undermine or even undo the next day after receiving the award, you can’t un-invent a scientific breakthrough.
Fine, I’ll concede that on a new outlet type B has a decent grip on the plug. Sadly, the majority of outlets I’ve interacted with over the years are worn to the point of being just as bad. Plus, the fact that you can have an appliance plugged in and working with part of the prongs exposed is just a safety issue that should’ve been fixed decades ago.
But okay, I suppose that goes for type A as well on top of it being an inferior design so I’ll retract my statement.

I disagree on that one. If you listen to Adrenaline and then skip forward to Private music there’s barely any resemblance left.
I will agree though that their overall vibe has remained consistent, but I think that speaks to their vision of the band instead of a lack of creativity.
