I live in Norway and there’s a lot of Teslas here, but most people don’t buy a new one every year.

I hate the word content. It’s so generic. Like, am I just a vessel to be filled with “content”?

I’ve seen the term “lumberjill” (because Jack and Jill, I guess), but don’t know if it’s common or even in use.
Yeah. It was very realistic. Sometimes they simplified explanations a bit. They had real hackers as consultants, and Sam Esmail, the creator of the show, was into hacking and computers as a teen.

One of my favorites I read was the trilogy which starts with The Three-body Problem. Mind boggling stuff, and page turners, but not perfect.
I also read a lot of Stephen King, and the award for the best book I read in 2025 has to go to The Green Mile. It’s one of King’s best, and one I have great memories of reading when it came out.
(Tech worker here, hoping to move to the countryside next year.)
Absolutely. I probably wouldn’t be doing any farming, except grow some vegetables for my own needs. But I would definitely build my own awesome local infrastructure with a server room and network cables in the walls and all that good stuff. When I retire and don’t have to spend 8-10 hours a day in front of a computer at work, it’ll probably be enjoyable and satisfying again to work on and maintain my own computers and stuff. Currently I rarely have the motivation or energy to do that.
And if the house is large enough I’d also make certain areas/rooms completely tech free. Like maybe a small library with only books and comfy chairs, and no wifi signal.
Yeah, that’s actually also why it’s no longer considered best practice to force regular password changes. But many places / websites /apps still do, obviously.

List sorting is somewhat based on what impact/influence a show has had on my life. For example, Parks & Rec is an amazing show AND was a big help during a tough time in my life. On the other hand, Chernobyl is also amazing, but wasn’t life changing for me personally. And LOST is great, but isn’t perfect and has its flaws, but the season 3 finale is one of the most emotional experiences I’ve ever had in relation to a tv show or movie. So it gets a relatively high spot.
Dark Shadows 🧛

Correct!

To be fair, he doesn’t have a title or any official position of power. His mother already had him when she met and later married the crown prince of Norway. But everyone in Norway knows who he is and he’s definitely very privileged, so he may have abused that fact…

My theory is that he’s so narcissistic that he genuinely believes every thought that comes into his mind is the truth.
Made me think of this Irish toast:
“Here’s to a long life, and a merry one
A quick death, and an easy one
A pretty girl, and an honest one
A cold beer - and another one”

My local newspaper stopped doing April Fools in 2017 due to the problem of fake news and discussions about media’s credibility.
Reminds me of my Polish colleague who once arrived at the office and said: "I would say good morning. But it’s not a good morning. "
The previous night our manager had taken the team out for dinner and drinks, paid for by the company. It wasn’t a good morning for any of us 😁

Zippo also have lifetime warranty / free repairs. I got mine repaired some years ago, from what I remember I only had to pay postage (from Norway to the US in my case).
