Oh shut the fuck up. When I went to school I the 90s, you weren’t even allowed to attend class if you were not vaccinated. They’d send you home and you couldn’t come back until you provided proof that you were completely up-to-date on your shots. Nobody complained about it, and guess what? Nobody died, developed autism, their blood didn’t become magnetic, either.

Being fully vaccinated was not only accepted, it was required*. And then Facebook came along and gave idiots like you a platform to spread lies and misinformation, fueled by an algorithm designed to confirm your misinformed biases so that* you stay on the website longer and they get more money. All the major social platforms do it now, YouTube, Twitter, etc. You’re only shown what you want to see, never any dissenting opinions or facts.

And that’s how you get the anti-vax movent. Billionaires have capitalized on stupidity for their own selfish gains. And you fell for it, hook line, and sinker.

That’s why independent open source platforms like Lemmy are crucial. They don’t weaponize ignorance for profit.

Edit: I’m caught up on all modern vaccines too, including COVID. Still doing fine.

  • I need to move somewhere that is the exact opposite of this. The amount of apathy in the modern world is distressing. People were a lot friendlier and more willing to help out a stranger even just 15-20 years ago when I was a teenager. Now you can’t get anyone to care about anything anymore.

I blame stagnating wages. No one is financially comfortable enough anymore to have the energy to care about anything other than their own survival.

  • Yeah but how can you tell that you’re getting the right charger for your phone? No two chargers are the same; they have different wattage ratings and use different charging standards.

If you grab any old charger without knowing the model number, it’ll charge your phone, sure, but not necessarily at its maximum possible charging speed unless you get lucky or take extra time to examine and research each charger until you find the right one. And I don’t know about you, but I’d feel awkward about pulling out my phone to Google random chargers while digging through a lost and found box with the employee just standing there. I rather just spend the money on a compatible charger designed for my phone’s charging standard.
