So I'm watching Die Hard and the teamwork and intricate plan of Hans Gruber's makes me think it would make a fun cooperative game. They've even got different roles that would make a fun game (the planner, the muscle, the explosives expert, the guy who disguised himself as the front security guard, the hacker/machines expert, etc.).
There would be different stages of a mission or level, like when different levels of cops and FBI show up with different tools (beat cop, cop backup, feds with things like the squads, the explosive cars, the helicopter at the end).
Although now that I think about it, maybe this is just the game Payday, but I've never played it and I don't know if it's still active, so maybe this has been done.
Payday is mostly what you're describing, payday 2 is still alive (25k daily players)
It's more focused on the action, but there is a planning phase (of which there is a well defined meta), and light class mechanics
Or would it be an asymmetric vs game like Dead By Daylight where you have your Payday style operators vs one guy in the vents without shoes
