On a wide shot of the crowd response there were two black people initially running away panicked, after a second one looked around and said something to the other guy and they chilled out, I like to imagine they were like "oh wait, the shooter is on our side, it's cool."

Business Insider: "Yeah it looks like they are doing fine but don't worry, they are being crushed by our sanctions and dying of starvation thankfully."

The photos of Kim beaming next to stacks of food are no doubt meant to send a signal to the world that the country is doing better than ever — whether true or not. In reality, the country's economy is still under the grip of international sanctions imposed after its nuclear and missile tests. A United Nations report last year concluded 70% of North Koreans were struggling to get enough to eat.

  • I've thought about this a lot, I've always felt like one of the "others", love being an Amerikkka hater, and generally just feel unmotivated to get into things like movies if everyone is watching it. I had the thought that maybe there is some evolutionary benefit to having members of a group driven to do different things just because they are different, like the weirdos/avant garde help push progress and prevent decay by shaking things up.

Like the random genetic mutations that help biological evolution, it's helpful to have people do weird stuff in case they do something that is more useful than what others would think of.

  • There is no such thing as weaklings and cowards, we are all a result of our material conditioning, language like that is identical to social darwinist anti-materialist views and removes the humanity from people. We are 'good' because we were fortunate enough to have a worldview instilled in us in which we respect collectivism and helping others.

I think it's important to view people this way because no one is forever lost, rehabilitation is possible, people can see the errors of their ways and change, thinking of people 'as' a trait like cowardice or laziness makes it as if that is all they are and unchangeable. These people selling the land, exploiting others, have been tricked into thinking this is beneficial for them, or they are addicted to the gratification of it. We can fight them and the conditions that bring these views about without hurting ourselves by holding onto resentment for these people.

  • Hezbollah continues to resist ground incursions in Southern Lebananon, this article highlighting an ongoing battle today in the town of Bint Jbeil. Also discussed is the strategic significance and history of the town.

El Mayadeen: An epic battle of Bint Jbeil: Hezbollah fighters stand their ground

    Article

Heavy confrontations are ongoing between Lebanese Resistance fighters and Israeli occupation forces on the outskirts of the old market area in the southern town of Bint Jbeil, according to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in southern Lebanon.

The correspondent described the fighting as intense, stating that Resistance fighters in Bint Jbeil are engaged in close-quarters combat with elite Israeli units. The report portrayed the confrontation as a fierce and sustained battle amid ongoing military pressure.

Despite continued airstrikes, artillery shelling, and a siege of the area, Israeli forces have so far failed to achieve any significant breakthrough in Bint Jbeil, with field reports indicating that Israeli troops have not yet reached key positions inside the town, including the municipal stadium, a symbolic site from which martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah declared that "Israel" is "frailer than a spider’s web" following the liberation of South Lebanon on May 25, 2000

Israeli media reported that the commander of Battalion 52 was seriously injured today in battles in Bint Jbeil, southern Lebanon.

Moreover, a very large number of wounded Israeli occupation soldiers are suffering from limb injuries from battles in Lebanon, along with other types of injuries.

Throughout the day, Israeli army helicopters have been landing at hospitals carrying wounded soldiers from the front in Lebanon, Israeli media reported.

Earlier today, Israeli media reported that 10 soldiers from Battalion 101 of the Paratroopers Brigade were wounded overnight during close-quarters combat with Islamic Resistance fighters within the town.

According to the same sources, three of the wounded soldiers are in critical condition. The casualties were evacuated to hospitals, with some transported urgently by military helicopters while others were transferred by ground. Bint Jbeil, the capital of resistance in South Lebanon

Bint Jbeil, a key city in southern Lebanon near the Israeli border, holds significant strategic importance due to its location overlooking multiple access routes into the border region.

Bint Jbeil overlooks key routes linking Maroun al-Ras to Tebnine, forming a main north–south corridor between the border and inland areas. It also connects westward to Aitaroun and Rmeish along roads running parallel to the frontier.

To the northeast, it links into the wider road network toward Tyre, making it an important logistics and movement hub. Its elevated terrain also provides oversight of nearby cross-border approach routes, enhancing its strategic value.

Control of the town provides operational depth and influence over nearby villages, making it a recurring focal point in confrontations between Israeli forces and Lebanese resistance groups.

Beyond its military relevance, Bint Jbeil carries strong symbolic weight. It has long been referred to as the “capital of the Resistance,” reflecting its role in shaping narratives of defiance and resilience.

Historically, Bint Jbeil’s association with resistance dates back to the French Mandate period. On June 11, 1936, protests erupted in the town during what became known as the tobacco revolt, after French forces opened fire on demonstrators. The incident marked an early chapter in the town’s legacy of organized opposition.

During the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon from June 6, 1982, to May 24, 2000, Bint Jbeil became a central site of armed resistance activity. The town witnessed repeated operations against Israeli forces and their allies, reinforcing its position as a stronghold for resistance operations in the region.

Additionally, the town's municipality stadium, a center of focus in the current battles, bore witness to martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's May 25, 2000 speech, in which he declared "Israel" to be "frailer than a spider's web" following the expulsion of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon and ending its occupation.

The town’s modern symbolic status was cemented during the July 2006 war, particularly in the Battle of Bint Jbeil, where intense fighting took place between Israeli troops and Hezbollah fighters. The confrontation became one of the most high-profile engagements of the war and was widely portrayed as a defining moment by both sides.

Today, Bint Jbeil remains both a strategic objective and a symbolic prize in any escalation along the Lebanon-"Israel" frontier. Its history, geography, and political significance continue to ensure its central role in ongoing tensions in the region.

  • I really think they do use AI to make some decisions, it seems like the most reasonable explanation for some of the choices. Just for curiousity I used chatGPT to ask for plans to improve the situation in the Iran conflict. The top plan it gave was to use state-backed terrorism on ships and ports to create pressure while ensuring deniability. It referred to it as "hiring privateers to disrupt trade through seizing vessels or limited strikes", it's wild that AI/LLMs have gone from plagiarism machines to war crime generators.

With more young people unable to find work you'll get drivers that have little experience driving of any type that are being thrown into big rigs also. At my job we got a delivery from a driver who was brand new, in college probably around 20, driving a full size trailer truck, he had just broken off one of the trailer doors backing up with it open. He was totally unconcerned and hopped out asking us "where's a good book store around here? My girlfriend wants me to grab her something while I'm in town." It was wild.

  • I just love that everything my mom taught me is being proven right all the time. In 2008 in regards to voting for Obama she said "I don't vote, even if they're a good candidate they'll just do whatever the rich want them to do anyway." Just by experiencing poverty and illness in the US and having critical thought she came to viewpoints that would be celebrated here. I think it probably helped that me and my siblings played a lot of hardcore conscious rap in the house too.

  • When discussing things based on a certain school of thought like Marxist dialectical materialism there is terminology we can use to more accurately convey our meaning, rather than the meaning coming from just our interpretation. I think there is plenty of good discussion here where people do listen to each other's points rather than responding instinctively based on their bias. If you're talking about something like magic or psychedelic experiences though, or religion, etc, things that are more subjective and less able to be rigorously studied, people will have a stronger bias, especially here where there is an emphasis on pure materialism.
