about

Press Release:

We're delighted to welcome Michael Scott Dawson to the label for the first time in collaboration with anthéne. For Brad Deschamps (anthéne), this marks an eighth consecutive year of work with Home Normal in a relationship that has grown organically across solo records, collaborations, mixtapes, and now both 'broadcast colours' and a new solo album out later this year. In that time, Brad has become one of ambient music's most revered voices; a presence of patience, tenderness, and quiet emotional light guiding us all home.

At its heart, 'broadcast colours' is the musical equivalent of the invisible but deeply felt connection between people, sound and place, past and present, the visible world and the spirit that moves quietly through all things. From the flickers of tone, soft melodic traces, distant resonances, and the feeling that something meaningful is always trying to reach us on the melodic horizon, the music guides and signals us through in celebration of this magical moment between worlds. Indeed, there is a moment near sunset when the world becomes almost unbearably tender. Light lowers. Windows glow. Roads, fields, rooms, and faces take on a new kind of colour. Ordinary places begin to feel charged with memory, and it is in this impermanently short space of time that this music holds its power.

Across twelve pieces, Dawson and Deschamps make music that feels intimate, soulful, and quietly expansive. It is ambient music with a human pulse, music that listens as much as it speaks. Frayed tones, glowing textures, and gently weathered melodies move like signals across distance, tracing the emotional landscape between who we were, who we loved, where we wandered, and what still remains within us.

Rooted in memory, place, tape, field sound, and the soft ache of nostalgia, Brad and Michael have created something beautifully open-hearted. It does not simply evoke the past but reconnects us to it and reminds us that memory is not fixed or distant but alive — something that continues to be transmitted through light, sound, landscape, and feeling.

The artwork, photographed by Evan Parsons, captures the album’s spirit perfectly with a feeling of shelter, invitation, signal, and dream all at once. A place that may never have existed, yet somehow feels like home. It is music for moments as the light dims or rises, for remembering, for the quiet belief that we remain connected across time, distance, and silence. We're honoured to be presenting music of such infinite power from two deeply talented artists, sharing their ability to express this directly into our hearts.

Thank you for listening.
