Oh nice idea, it will fit nicely my fediverse community ! We can play a lot with flairs :3
We can use them to hide content, to categorize content, we could add a related hashtag, make a search with include, exclude…
mastodon’s hashtag and piefed’s flair are alike.
On mastodon, you can create a timeline where you can mix username, hashtags, so maybe the next feed feature would include some hashtag ? :)
The bell notification is a very good idea, i would like to expand it to hashtag. 😋
Altough it’s already decided, i support your choice, that’s a good decision.
Here is my point of view :)
I choose piefed community even tought i prefer zulip for its chat organization. It works as a git page where we can resolve topic, create topic based on discussion. It is well made and and their app do a very good job.
However, as you pointed out, it didn’t attract new users for many reasons as being in another chat, create new account (while having so many accounts elsewhere)…
I think we can make piefed closer to zulip. Piefed already have the most important feature of zulip :
- moving post to the correct category.
Maybe we are missing two things ?
- subcategories ? for that we have flair. We can turn some flair into tabs. A dropmenu where you can chose the flair ?
- moving comments on a new post or categorize comment by topic ? (Maybe it is only revalant on live discussion)
Hi, thank for the report. That’s outside my skill, i can’t help you but meanwhile you can provide us more detail. :)
It may be a bug. Did you subcribe to some community or post or user ? Do you have more revalant info about those posts ?
This seems completely nonsensical, and like it was written by someone illiterate, or at best by someone who speaks English very poorly. I looked to see if you were pharaphrasing something in another comment, I only see one thing similar, which I’ll reply to.
Not everyone are fluent to english, however we do our best. We come from various background. I don’t write well in english, i do lot typos and correct them over time.
So you shouldn’t judge us.
Let’s imagine you go to !forumlibre@jlai.lu. You want to share your amazing experience in the french city Strasbourg and write a beautiful post in french.
It is so badly written that there is this guy that tell you :
you illeterate.
And that’s your behaviour.
I was paraphrasing the whole posts & comments you made because you didn’t develop your arguments and dismissed them all.
Let’s sum up how you answer to people :
“Nonsensical. Unintelligent. Illeterate.”
Do you think you know better than us ?
Imo, you should stop and developp your thoughts. Your new reply is better because you tell me what i didn’t understand.
Well, the problem is that you attack people with this sentence and they told you a valid point that you may not agree.
i think you should take it slow, reread them. You may not agree with us, but you shouldn’t attack them by : “unintelligent, low..”
Take a point in our argumentation for example :
“i disagree because this is not a screenshot of a browser. It degrades internet because it looks like a meme, a low quality post. High quality content are only written in a long hard to digest text”
I replied to the examples you chose in your arguments…
It makes high-quality posts look the same as low-quality ones.
No, i disagree, picture can showcase different kind of informations that text aren’t able to explain.
futhermore, I explained that the screenshoot showcased a browser UI and the other one is, maybe a trick to escape copyrighted content detection. So…for me it doesn’t lower their qualities.
Low-quality, easy-to-digest content will dominate and drown out everything else if no one does anything to limit it. It degrades the internet and our brains.
That’s not necessary true. It depends on the pics, and the text. There are some badly written text that could achieve the same result. It depends on lot factors.
Not really, that’s just another normal reply as you shared your point of view. It may not be the reply you wanted to read but that’s a valid point of view.
In your example, it’s not a meme. For me, it’s screenshot of a newpaper article. There are pro and cons:
- Pro : it maybe used to avoid content detection from NY times. (Copyright)
- Cons : people with low vision can’t use screenreader and we are very bad with alt text.
As for myself, i prefer text over pic/video because:
- you can use screenreaders.
- you can do a search and find related text content.
- picture are heavier than text.
But i also like when there is a picture along text. The second example is a screenshot of a new browser for the fediverse. It showcases the browser’s ui.
Hello,
Can you edit your post and remove this part “unintelligent reponse” ? That’s a bit rude.
Thank you :)
Maybe switch button located somewhere in the topbar ? Or something like mbin for theming (they do a quite good job) ? :)
I’m starting a wikipedia page for Piefed. I’m not sure if we can pass the approval but let’s try. u.u
I also agree with skavau. i often delete cookie. so i prefer a more lasting solution.
That’s not easy but i hope the wiki is clear. If there are part unclear, you can told me where. I do my best to reach and help new users ^^
The most difficult thing is to find the css name attributed to : body text, title, buttons… if we want to change it.
To find this css name, we do a “reverse engenering " by reading the website source code.
We use the web browser (on desktop) and open web dev tool. Then inspect the element we want to change : title, text, thumbnail, vote button…
Oh thank, wonderful…i have lot to catchup 😅
Mmm i will create a link to this page and a minimale wiki page. I would be also great to check out the wiki of fedican :)
Shame for the screenshot but very cool :D
A wiki page that help with theming would be great :)
Thank for the explanation, it was clear. So it was an address problem :)
Okay, and then, once settled, i will create a nice link for the weekly post on fediverse.
I dunno, but it would be great if we could turn it into an instance agnostic link. I will use threadiverse link. :)
Very cool :3
but on mobile, for people who have subcribed to lot communities, they will have to scroll down a little. I think it can sit next to local/all community button :)
Thank anyway for your report maybe it is related to feed API. :)
I guess you also tried with language none and another UI ? That’s outside my knowledge.
Meanwhile, you can give us detail :
- piefed instance
- subcribed feed
- and the ui software : Blorp ? Photon ?
Sorry for the inconvenience, i hope someone will help you :)
It wilk takes some time, just stick to casual communities and once you reach a positive score it will diseapar.
It’s not easy 😔
