  • Wishing you the best. I feel very fortunate to have found my partner out of pure coincidence. It’s not always been easy, we both are constantly working on ourselves to be the best version we can be for each other, and I know I have a lot of growth yet to achieve.

It might sound cliche, but oftentimes you may find that someone when you least expect it, when you’re not even looking. Enjoy your life to the fullest you possibly can, and spend time with family and friends, attend hobby-related events and socialize. This will maximize the chances of you meeting someone you truly vibe with, though not all romantic interests will lead to long-term/lifelong relationships.

  • Ice cubes do have some smell, now that you mention it. Humans have an amazing ability to smell moisture, which we evolved for being able to find water sources. So your experience with AC could relate to how AC affects the humidity in the air perhaps.

And in context of this thread, smell is one of the largest factors for our experience of flavor. Without a sense of smell, most foods would taste relatively bland.

  • I lost a very close friend to fentanyl in 2025. They even had narcan at home when it happened, but by the time their partner found them it was just moments too late.

I’m still not over it and probably never will be, the anger and grief is just so strong. Their death was so preventable. But they decided to take the risk and buy some shit from the dark web and not test it first, and they decided to hide it from their partner and friends.

I wish we lived in a world where drugs were decriminalized and destigmatized, maybe my friend would have felt more comfortable giving their partner a heads up before trying some sketchy dark web product. Unfortunately, there is just nothing that truly helps severe chronic pain, and our medical system sucks.

Anyways y’all, please be safe out there if you’re inclined to try anything off the street. Get ahold of some test kits and narcan, and please have someone you trust supervise. Fent has been put into so many things – including coke, Adderall, Xanax – nothing is “safe” anymore (not saying drugs were safe before, but the risks are so much higher than they used to be ~15 years ago)

  • I think for cuts there’s general rules for location, depth, and length to qualify as an emergency. Deep punctures/stab wounds should always be treated as emergencies, do not remove the object, but stabilize it so it doesn’t cause more damage. An amount of blood equivalent to a can of soda is life threatening.

I’ve stayed current on first aid certifications for about a decade and grew up with a parent in the medical field. I still suck at knowing when something requires an er visit, quite possibly because family, friends, and neighbors would come over and get stitches on our kitchen counter rather than go to the hospital. The best I can say is, if you are questioning whether something requires a hospital visit, then it probably does. Better to be safe than sorry.
