It wasn’t just the cost for me. It was the rise of fascism in the world in general and the fact that they are selling my watching history to everyone and anyone. Right now, they say it’s for advertising and development, but I wasn’t waiting around to have my content label me as undesirable.

Less important, but still a factor, was the fact that these services are constantly removing queer content and cancelling good shows. I stand by the idea that the only reason Kaos got cancelled was because it has a trans character. With the Paramount merger doomed to happen, I imagined there was going to be another purge, so fuck them.

It has been a truism throughout history that most people just want live their lives in peace. Equally true is that there is always a small group of assholes that can’t be happy for one stupid reason or another and find a way to make it everyone else’s problem.

I think statistically it’s something like 60-75 percent of the whole country hate trump. of that only like 1/3 are chronically following things enough to always BE upset and have pretty much the daily collection of all the things he’s done. Then of that group, maybe half actually protest about it while the rest kind of just do this, chat online and look around at people that agree with them to blow off steam. It sucks but yeah.

Numbers will change as gen alpha and gent z get brought up in an internet that distracts them and brainwashes them to the right but yeah. That’s kind of the picture. A small group of activists are out there doing stuff trying to put out the house fire and the rest of us are online complaining that it’s getting hot.

It’s never been about what’s right or even what’s popular. It’s always been about what the people in power think they can get away with. Right now the people in power are increasingly seeing that they can get away with anything and they seem to have learned from recent history how to make sure they always will.

There is a small part of me that is amused. Yes, they may eventually flatten the entire country, but for generations everyone has known that Iran is the kind of country that will make it hurt out of spite. Iran is laughing through a blood-filled mouth at everything you do because they know that, even in their fall, they are taking America down with them. Trump, you stupid, stupid child. This is not about money. This is ideological.

That’s the thing: that sounds reasonable until you take 5 minutes to research and find that there are already a fuck ton of roadblocks and checks in place to make sure it’s what they want and the best option. That statement is either made in bad faith or in ignorance. A trans person trying to get access to surgery and a woman trying to have her uterus removed have similar, but unique, levels of difficulty.

Pretending anyone can make that choice on a Tuesday and undergo serious surgery on a Wednesday is either super ignorant or a bad actor. You can’t even do that shit for normal healthcare procedures.

But the viral right found its token examples, and those examples became the face of an entire problem that didn’t exist.

As a leftist, I can tell you there was a fuck of a lot more than one issue that I didn’t agree with Biden or Harris on. I still voted for her, but I can tell you I won’t hold my nose again.

What happened, in general terms, is that Gen Z kept the previous elections from slipping too hard to Republicans, and Harris went viral for calling them dumb. And she was pro-genocide, and she was a cop-loving prosecutor out of California. She basically screamed “DINO.” Then, when the Democratic primaries happened, Biden lied and said he was going to run again, which basically killed any other chance for a popular candidate to emerge to challenge Trump. So when Biden finally changed his mind, we were forced to vote for Harris or Trump.

If you want to blame something, blame the Democratic Party playing games with their internal processes to keep the people from having a candidate they actually wanted. Nobody even wanted Harris as VP. She got it, much like Biden under Obama, because she was a “safe” moderate.

And I can tell you, as a regular voter. I had people at my door for her 12 different times asking me to vote.

We shouldn’t have even allowed Biden to say he was going to run a second term, but the entire establishment went along with it as political theater to put her on the ballot.

Why did Trump win? Because American elections are fucked and never favor the popular vote and because enough people were fucking pissed. The Liberal idealists were pissed because dispite popular opinion our leaders ignored them most of the time, and the Conservative minded were pissed because they had 4 years of “Fuck Joe Biden” propaganda.

I screamed and pounded the keyboard back in 2020 at family. Those same family didn’t listen, posted their alternative facts, and voted for him again in 2024. I was a pile of raw nerves back then. Now I am numb. heartbroken and numb. Maybe this was how Cassandra felt when Apollo cursed her.

Oh, I didn’t even consider that. Like using open source code to train their program and refine it’s coding capabilities.

I don’t have a problem with AI assisting with open source projects. On its face, it could be helpful to clean up some basic coding problems so a person with skill can come in and update later or remove it if it’s truly awful code. But then I remember that there’s always an angle. On top of all the other issues with AI coding, what happens if Anthropic tries to pull some legal shenanigans and say that they wrote most of the code, so they own the project? What if they are writing in backdoors and vulnerabilities?

Like I said, on its face it sounds okay, but any time a corporation tries to touch a public project, things go wonky.

Every day I get more and more depressed that he got a second term. We knew so much about him as a person before the election, and it has only gotten worse as time passes. The raping of children, his business practices, his racism, how he was raised, how he treats his family, his ties to the Russian mob… The fact that he’s president is some kind of cosmic-level joke. The fact that the entire system let him become (and continue to be) president makes me lose faith in humanity. The Saul Goodman of slumloards was the best that the rich could pull off…and it WORKED? Like, are we always doomed to come back here? The powerful will always choose themselves over any common good. Even when the system resets, the accumulation of power is inevitable. Like… they chose him to dance and clown and do exactly what they want. I don’t know whose hand is up his ass, but the fact that this is the guy, THE guy, and we watch him in real time dismantle 100 years of stabilizing economic policy, line his pockets, and more or less hand global hegemony to Russia and China.

All because he was an open secret of a rapist and Obama made fun of him once. I’m just dumbfounded. I truly thought better of humanity.
