How does your game fit the theme?
You are trapped in the endless cycle of depression, where every day feels the same and they blend into each other. You are effectively looping the same days and weeks over and over with only minor differences between them as you try to get better.

Your Average rank is #630 in GMTK 2025! Congrats! And congrats for #1 rank in narrative!

I felt bad that there is no average score, because some teams aimed for all categories, not just one. So I just scrapped the results page and made a table. I agree with Mark that "Overall" is questionable, but I still think "Average" is a valuable score, so I decided to share it.

Developer

Oh neato! I really gunned it for narrative which I guess worked out, but wew so much lower on all the others. I'm really hoping despite the low average rank Mark still plays mine and maybe even shows it in the video.

Submitted

He definitely should! #1 on narrative is fantastic!

Very unique. We talked about some of the things you could do on stream to reinforce which player choices have consequence. A bit of that coupled with more audio work, and I think you'd have a quite compelling experience here. Thank you for sharing!

Developer

Thank you for playing it on stream! It was fun to see it get played in real time. I'll definitely be taking stuff into consideration for updating it a bit in a few days.

Ah ha, so I am in a small room going in circles.

The narration is very calm, I like this visual novel-like style.

Developer(+1)

I hope you were able to leave the room (and eventually the apartment) to experience the rest of the game!

Later I will, I have passed the content of the second week.

This is probably my favorite use of the theme so far. I really like the visuals and overall mood this game sets. Also I don't know why the menus are so well made and polished but I'll give you props for that. Overall this is a really well made entry, I wish it was browser so more people could have the chance to try it out.

Developer(+1)

That's so nice to hear! I really wanted the vibe to feel heavy and aligned with the subject matter. Can't take credit for the menus though, that's from the base Ren'Py engine. And yeah, only realizing a few days after submission how useful being in browser is for actually getting people to try/give ratings.

Haunting-- this is definitely more of an experience than a game, per se, but it captured a very heavy mood and it did it extremely well. This is a very thoughtful take on the idea of a "loop", and, after so many arcade-style games, it was great to hit something so thought provoking.

Submitted

Interesting idea for the loop, at first I thought it was going to continue to loop the same day over and over again, but once more choices came up it got better with the writing helping lend to this repeating nature. Story wise it does it a good job of this depression and repeating cycle of days as time just pass I didn't get to a end but I think you pulled off the blending of time.

The writing and the interpretation of loop is top notch here; strong feelings well captured.

Developer

Thank you! ^-^

honestly REALLY liked this one. my favorite submission yet. i think that you executed this really beautifully :) i tried to get to the end but i couldnt figure it out. but i think thats okay, i think that the single concept of hope is implemented quite nicely into your game to where it worked out for me to not really finish it properly. truly lovely!!!

Developer(+1)

^-^ That makes me so happy to hear, I'm honored for it to be your favorite! And yeah, the end can be hard to find, it's not clear and it's not really meant to be, but that's kinda just how depression is, the way out is foggy and hard to reach and you're gonna feel stuck the whole time even when your starting towards a better place.

This spoke to me, here's a hug. ><

Developer(+1)

I'm glad it was able to speak to you! I was trying to pull from my own experiences but I'm in a much better place right now I'd like to think

I very much enjoyed the art style, and the concept of "waking up inside of someone else's body" is pretty cool imo.

I understood it here more as "the body not being yours" meaning, that if you are in the loop of depression, you are not quite who you actually are, but it also gave me food for thought of literally waking up in somebody else, which I find interesting.

Overall a decent entry, albeit quite short ^^

Developer

Yeah in this case the body not being yours is meant to be an expression of transness and dysphoria, that visceral feeling of your body not feeling right. Though I figure for a game actually about waking up in someone else's body it'd be hard to separate a trans reading from it anyways even if unintended.
