Iz & Diz, Pepé Bradock - Mouth (Pepé Bradock's Remix For Friends)
‘Mouth' has long held cult status among deep house heads and vinyl diggers, the kind of record that circulates through crates and DJ bags on reputation alone. Iz & Diz's original is a masterclass in restraint. A hypnotic, bass-heavy groove that rewards patience and repeated listens, the sort of track that reveals new layers every time it hits a proper soundsystem.
What elevated ‘Mouth' to legendary status, though, was the remix work attached to it, particularly the version credited here as "Brad Peep's Remix For Friends," widely known to be the work of Pepé Bradock. Originally cut as a limited, personal edit for friends rather than public release, it became one of those coveted, whispered-about pieces of house music folklore. Bradock's reworking is genuinely groundbreaking: warped, off-kilter, and deeply idiosyncratic, it reshaped the original into something stranger and more hypnotic, influencing a generation of deep house and outsider dance producers who followed in his footsteps.
This reissue on Classic pairs the original and remix alongside a version originally held off the first pressing.

‘Mouth’ was one of the highlights from the ‘Wiggle While We Work EP’ and now it gets the remix treatment. Pepe Braddock contributes an engaging, intimate interpretation, couching the original’s bizarre vocals in the warm embrace of drifting textures and echoing synth line. Greenskeepers’ two remix efforts begin with the Tongue Twister Mix which utilizes a playfully pitch shifted jazz guitar riff to create a divertingly quirky reworking, while their Get Off My Mouth Mix strips things back to reveal an impressive funk fuelled bassline. This release contains 2 previously unreleased additional remixes by Pepe Braddock, stripping his main ‘Remix For Friends’ mix back even further to much more downtempo and eclectic charms.
will never forget Psychemagick, at the height ion their powers, slamming out Everywhere at Lowlife, Corsica Studios. One of the best DJ sets I've ever seen. Thanks so much for making these available digitally... naturally I have em all on vinyl, but its so nice to have these as big old WAV files for my digital sets. thequietfire
