Thanks, Xzibit.

2·5 days agoFacts. I’m ND and will generally score well above average on these types of tests, depending on the method, yet I have areas that I’m only capable of if I have consistent practice and coaching. The first week without, and I’m unlikely to solve the most basic of problems in that area. Additionally, I think these tests are harmful for anyone who scores outside the norm, as it will essentially place them in a box of expectations harmful to their individual growth.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•why does almost nobody live here?
5·6 days agoThis isn’t an informed guess, but I’d imagine it has to do with ground suitability, as well as risks caused by the ocean and weather. I recently read an article that major cities in the area, away from the coast, are causing the ground to sink below their weight.

2·10 days agoThe ability to perform a task well, possessing a useful/impressive/entertaining skill, or at least being useful to a group has generally rewarded a person with status throughout human history, regardless of motive or incentive. Sometimes, that status is limited to very specific peers, though it can often provide various levels of status in a larger societal sense.

11·10 days agoMostly right, other than the fact that the murdering of people of color by the state’s armed thugs, whites, or “model minorities” was normalized before the inception of the USA state. This is what the American state has always represented and has little to do with Trump, other than the fact that he doesn’t try to hide behind a veneer of decency and respectability.
The idea that slavery, particularly the way it was conducted in the Americas, was mostly acceptable at the time was always a myth. There were always those who saw it as reprehensible and many who were swayed once seeing it in practice. There were even die-hard racists who viewed Africans as subhuman who found the treatment of slaves disgusting.

Followed up with “You people believe in surprise more than we do!” Fucking incredible. I don’t know what could have been said to make that exchange more awkward and uncomfortable. Not only was that some shit from 90 years ago, for which they were fucking nuked (twice!), he had to throw in some racism as well. I try to minimize the clips I watch of that clown speaking while still following his actions, but I had to see if he actually made that wild comment, and it was worse than reported.

11·1 month agoThis is the goal of zionism. Make the world more dangerous for Jews, creating fear, and radicilizing individuals who they hope to recruit into their colonialist, apartheid, and genocidal regime. Zionism is not Judaism, but they’re intentionally pairing the two. Zionism is white supremacy. While i hope I’m wrong, I fully expect this to escalate until Israel pushes the button, with every nuclear power capable following suit. Creating these tensions at a period when the region Israel sits in will face catastrophic heat waves along with water and food shortages makes this outcome extremely likely.

5·1 month agoStrictly from an environmental perspective, no. This tech generates massive emissions and consumes a large amount of fresh water at a time when both are at critical points. We are going full speed towards a planet inhospitable to human life and the other life we share the planet with.

4·1 month agoIt is interesting to think that societies would not only (forcibly) include specialized individuals necessary for civilization in frontline combat but also provide them with little training, equipment, or screening for aptitude. If i were to set aside my own opinions about war and forcing people to participate in it, it would simply be wiser to not only have a specialized class of soldiers, but to also eliminate individuals not suited to the task. Militaries into the modern era also have the issue through nepotism in the officer corps and incentivising the most impoverished to join the enlisted, they have the benefit of significantly larger numbers (total population), mechinization, and long range engagement. Even the most catastrophic combat in the modern era does not have the same (immediate) death toll.

It is USDA Grade D beef and various fillers, mostly fiber. Alpo brand dog food utilizes USDA Grade C beef, for reference. The USDA is an excellent example of regulatory capture, likely making Grade D beef even worse than you were already imagining.
