The services will never change because consumers are lazy.
That is not true!
The services get more expensive and the quality goes down.

Television@piefed.social•'She-Hulk' Was Apparently One of Marvel's Most Successful ShowsEnglish
4·1 day agoI would be surprised if any courtroom drama was a solid representation of how courtrooms work. Pretty sure comic courtrooms are based on courtrooms in media where they do everything wrong to be more engaging to watch.
My Cousin Vinny is one of the few where they do get all the courtroom stuff right and that is mostly the judge being nitpicky, a bunch of slow and tedious formality, and a single exciting moment where an important detail is discovered but the actual way it is presented takes several minutes of explaining because courtrooms don’t have dramatic emotional one liners that end a case.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How quick are you to block someone on Lemmy?English
41·2 days agoI block a lot less after switching to piefed which has a feature where I can tag users with poop and barfing and other emojies as it reminds me to laugh at the user instead of engaging.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your opinion on the current state of AI/LLMsEnglish
51·2 days agoLLMs are a.parlor truck that makes text output look natural, but massively unreliable like a game of telephone. Good for a laugh or two, but absolutely not worth wrecking the hardware sector over and not needing to be jammed into everything and endlessly nagging users about it.
Worse than web searches from a decade ago, and used to further fill results with generated slop. Certainly not ready for prime time, and the core design means it never will be for all the uses they are pretending it would be helpful for.

2·2 days agoScreenshot is from Firefox on a PC when right clicking on a link. Other browsers and devices might have other options, or might not have an option to copy the link without tracking. I was just pointing out there is a very direct label for doing the thing we are talking about.

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•had this convo just yesterday 🤦♀️English
6·2 days agoEbony becomes so angry at this perceived betrayal[e] that she runs crying into the Forbidden Forest, where she is approached by Lord Voldemort. Voldemort, speaking in faux-archaic English, gives her a gun and demands that she kill Vampire.
There is also a cameo by a gothic Marty McFly, who gives Ebony a black DeLorean time machine able to transform into an iPod, allowing her to travel forward in time.
I kinda want to read it now.

The thing is, the remaining percentage of your income is smaller when income goes down and not everything you want to buy goes down.
If your income is cut in half but you still have 10% of your income as disposable, the 10% is half what it was in t he city. So if you travel anywhere you have half as much to spend on travel. If your savings is cut in half because it is the same percentsge then you have half as much saved up and are pretty much stuck in lower cost of living areas.
Sure, going out on the town is cheaper while living there, but your options are now limited to lower cost areas.
It is a possible short term benefit for being stuck long term.

Brands names and generic coming from the same production lines are priced difference because of differing quality control standards. This may or may not still be the case, but it was when brand names were working on building the brand.
So a can of brand name green beans is more likely to have full beans with better texture and consistency. The lower quality beans, more fragmented and smaller pieces, and more variety in color are going to be in the generic labeled cans. Yes, same beans and same production line but the brand names get the better stuff in the same way as the people who pick through the fresh produce when it arrives at the store and the generic gets to use whatever is left over.
Generics are perfect in soups and casseroles and if you don’t care enough about presentation. Brands are for when you want rigid consistency.
