I’d be okay with adopting. However, I would probably try a biological kid first, because I’m interested in how all those evolutionary parenting instincts would kick in, as I hear they are supposed to with your own genetic offspring.

I am sure that, given the responsibility of being a parent to an adopted child, I would care for them and love them with fierce and unstoppable devotion. I’ve got an adopted sister and she’s my sister, no question. My partner’s got a kid, and though I’m not really a father figure to them at this point in the relationship, I would burn the world down before seeing them hurt.

So in summary, as a man, adopting seems to be just as good as bio.

I have seen lots of small kids do the movements in different ways, even before they would plausibly have seen the stereotypical dance in media. There is definitely a biological component to it; bending slightly and moving does seem to strengthen the muscles that hold in the pee.

It seems that the Chinese company chose to abandon the acquisition. I see three possible reasons.

This may have been part of a wider Chinese negotiation with the US on security technology. It might have destabilised some position or other, cost more in US hostility elsewhere, etc.

Also, the Dutch do tend to be very cooperative with US government demands, if they are tolerable; the Chinese company might simply have recognised that the Dutch would now block the acquisition at the request of the US.

Third, the US could easily block the company’s trade permissions, stopping its access to a key world market. That would have made the acquisition far less profitable, and the company would have no reason to continue.
