From what I’ve read fixing world hunger would not be that expensive, in the grand scheme of things. Too bad that the poor just don’t have a lobby.

Also, if everyone would get at most 2 children, humanity will shrink on average. Don’t see why somebody should not have kids just because somebody else had “too many”.

I absolutely agree that many people should not have kids, and nobody should feel pressured to do so, and everybody should think twice before they do if it really is what they want and they are ready for that.

Of course if you value your own free time and activities above everything else, then yes, definitely please do not have kids. There will be no time for anything but baby care and the bare minimum household maintenance for a long time.

2010 - back then I was an insecure teenager, finding refuge and empowerment in technology, anxious that I will die alone. One year before finishing high school and two before meeting my future wife. I texted her also using Pidgin for ICQ and Google Talk (without the OTR, of course).

Now I’m a self-confident software developer, instead anxious that I will die in a fascist dictatorship, and absolutely sick of the modern shitnology, instead preferring to care for plants on the balcony after work, because they are something real and not annoying.

Tech is just not fun anymore. But maybe it’s for the better, that made me go outside more.

Skin has its own microbial flora and is the largest organ of our body. Imagine you take antibiotics. This can lead to all kinds of side effects, because good bacteria just as bad are killed and your gut needs to repopulate.

If you did not wash your skin for decades, I’m pretty certain that you will acquire a pretty unique and rich microbiome on your skin that co-exists with you in symbiosis if you are healthy. Now you just wash it away.

It’s all bullshit. Capitalism does not matter, socialism does not matter. How we call it does not matter. What matters is that a society is healthy, sustainable and prospering.

The main problem of all theories is the confrontation with reality - each set of values or ideology is as much worth as the people who (supposedly) follow it.

In any system we ever built, there are greedy, corrupt, powerful people, who like shit, always somehow end up swimming at the top. And then everything begins to rot.

Yeah overall I agree, brain stuff ist complicated and all boxes we draw there are simplifications anyway.

Maybe I’m wrong but I thought of people with more stable and rigid habits/obsessive interests/hyperfixations to be on the more autistic side of the spectrum, and more random/oscillating patterns to be more on the ADHD side.

My hyperfocus period is usually between days and months, where I learn everything about something and then I don’t care anymore.

Never had this with food or cooking though. Like, of course there are dishes I love to eat regularly, but there is no dish ever I’d like to eat every day for weeks. I know I’d hate it after week 1 already.

I also thought that sounds more autistic than ADHD to me. But apparently there’s a lot of AuDHD folks so it’s hard to draw the line I guess.

I played enough with generative AI myself to also think that this smells very much like AI, and not necessarily in that it is bad, but got these signature AI quirks all over it that I would also bet money on this being AI.
