Oscillating between the eternal ebb & flow of haunting soliloquy and spiritual ascension, fascinatingly locating a middle ground between Spacemen 3's ecstatically tripped drones and Thomas Köner's vast wilderness, Sunn O's dread riff veneration, and Emptyset's textural obsessiveness, this album stunningly remains both intimate and massive. And is arguably, the most beautiful album Kevin Richard Martin has yet released.

KRM's originality fully fourishes, by relentlessly worshipping at the altar of feedback and amplifying sub bass to dizzying levels here on his latest album 'Blue Loops'. The collection continues where his previous 'Frequencies for Leaving Earth' left off, as a beatless voyage into destination unknown, which feels like entering a giant cavernous void with melancholy and enchantment as your only companions. It also echoes the abject science fiction of his previous alternate score to Tarkovsky's 'Solaris' and reflects his largely overlooked input on Experimental Audio Research's previous, cult classic 'The Köner Experiment'.

Apparently each piece started life as a simple, single feedback loop recorded by Martin in downtime, after shows in various hotel rooms all across Europe, as he accumulated an endless library of spectral, modulating repetitions. He then brought the raw material to his soundlab in Bruxelles, and went in as deeply as possible, by processing the hell out of the rigorously minimal, original source material. The result could be interpreted as psychedelic drone for ambient isolationists, or even electro-acoustic dub for adventurous metalheads. In another parallel fanciful world it could even soundtrack an audio exchange between Samuel Beckett's stark, endtime literature and Anselm Keifer's meticulously, gorgeously crafted artworks. Unarguably, 'Blue Loops' is ridiculously minimal, but emotionally maximal.

The tension is compelling, as each piece gracefully unfolds, yet what is genuinely surprising, is that Martin offers his low end paradise as a retreat, forsaking gloom for sacred haikus and enchantingly submerged melodies, ensuring there is a radiant warmth at its core, with an astonishing mastery of tone and texture. 'Blue Loops' is a homage to endless hardware fx chains and studio as instrument of infinite escapism. Hearing the feedback loops perpetually morph, mutate and wriggle ensures the purest of joy, as the producer manages to breathe life and variation into his circular logic with slow motion precision... Bizarrely this is possibly Martin at his most academic, but also strangely, at his warmest, in a welcomingly womblike manner... It's like hearing a shoegaze album at the opposite end of the longest of wind tunnels, thousands of metres below the earth's surface... Majestic and magical, it is blissful and indeed deeply blue. Go figure...
