Harry Harrison Wow… OK… This is a different approach. Don’t get me wrong; I really like it. It’s just different to what I usually listen to. Khan have departed from their norm & headed out into the instrumental realm. I personally do not favour this type of soundscape but in this case, I had to make an exception. It’s just that good! I can’t really pigeonhole them but the closest I can think of is Yawning Man. Others with more experience in this genre may be able to help. All I know is that it’s so enjoyable. Favorite track: Nomad.

lloydd I was very surprised and somewhat doubtful about an instrumental release from this band. There lyrics and vocals are first rate so why no vocals. The boys don't miss a beat, to be able to put out such a quality record minus vocals is not an easy feat and took a lot of balls. Doubts not a fucking one. This is top shelf stuff. Favorite track: Monsoons.
Smekermann

Smekermann A really interesting mix of sounds that I can only really describe as post-psych rock. The songs have an innate groove found in previous Khan material, but it's an entirely different approach. The album is instrumental (a bold choice, considering Josh Bills' strong vocals), and the compositions longform, though the the runtime borders EP-length.

An album that deserves multiple, dedicated listens.

about

Khan Melbourne, Australia

Khan meld hazy psychedelia and heavy stoner riffs with a penchant for progressive rhythms and almost dirge-like, industrial- scale crescendos. The songs are lyrically evocative, often exuding a sense of despondency and melancholy. Vocally, they waver from ethereal falsetto and hypnotic crooning to impassioned wailing punctuated by occasional guttural screams. ... more
