dstrzynski This is currently my favorite version of surf adjacent electric reverb guitar music. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, I might go so far as to say it's the best. Carand Burnet's project takes deep dives into exotic waters, resurfacing to thoughtfully incorporate the best parts of what it encounters into a singular form of psychedelic ocean music.

CMB It’s one thing to be an artist of notable skill selling your wares on BC. It’s quite another to take time & effort to *personally* package them in a colorful envelope with a handwritten personal note and bonus gift besides. It speaks gratitude & a genuine desire to connect with those who admire your work. This is an artist that cares as much about her fans as she does for her craft. I received much more than a CD today, and it’s worth far more than I was able to give for it. Thank you, Carand. 🧡

brunomadsen Carand is keeping surf instrumentals alive with a psychedelic and Indian music mix. If you like reverb-drenched guitar music... then this is for you! Favorite track: Sun Fish.

about

Kioea's newest EP, Electric Surf, is a radiant fusion of surf rock, psychedelia, and Eastern music influences. Frontwoman Carand Burnet finds her muse in the transcendent sounds of the sitar and tanpura, which elevate her electric guitar melodies. Expect the driving beats and catchy hooks of the band's previous compositions, complemented by spacious moments.

Listening to genre-defying albums like Alice Coltrane's "Journey in Satchidananda" and The Moody Blues' "In Search of the Lost Chord" shaped the creation of Electric Surf. These albums, along with studying raga singing, inspired Burnet to incorporate atmospheric layers of tanpura and vocals into the EP.

A commitment to the healing properties of music, instilled through spiritual practices, has motivated Burnet to create Electric Surf. The artist is grateful to channel this energy in the company of new band members and bring this sound to a broader audience.

Burnet adds: "Music and its mystical vibrations are a healing force. In discovering my singing voice, everything serendipitously came together to create Electric Surf."
