I am happy to have gotten both .

Thoughtful words feel nice, thoughtful gifts have changed my life on a daily basis.

I prefer the thoughtful gifts, there is something magical to picking up a comb and being reminded of the gift giver each morning.

If either are thoughtful, as the word implies, great consideration went into them. So I think receiving either would be fine, as either would carry the best intentions / purposes of the giver.

I don’t think I have a preference, both bring me a lot of long-term joy. My family is big on poems for birthdays and holidays and they are also great at meaningful gifts. My daughter made a father’s day playlist on Spotify and wrote an entry for each song with her memory of what we were doing when she heard the song. I often play it and have read the accompanying notes so many times, I’ve memorized it so I get a little burst of dopamine for each song, no matter what I’m doing or where I am.
